I'm assuming the tax base is raising in a lot of these areas which could explain the garbage pickup, police protection, etc...

Difference between FEMA and the govt showing up in these rich California mountain areas to help people when fires break out and leaving poor black to drowned in NO...

Makes sense. The poor areas in the 80's and 90's weren't generating the tax revenue to justify the expected city services (Trash pickup, Modernized schools, regular police patrol and protection). I think its less of a race thing and more of a money thing. I think studies also prove the more affluent and educated population votes more often then the less affluent.

So there you have it. The affluent bring in more expected city services based on increased tax revenue and if they don't receive their services they are more than likely to write to their representative or vote their representative out of office.

Its a race thing because the affluent people tend to be white :cacmj23:

This but also during the 70s and 80s, especially in NYC, the city implemented "neoliberal" policies and the first things cut were the services you mentioned, in addition to public schools, teaching positions/salaries, park maintenance, community services, etc. In many ways, the city let these neighborhoods go to shyt, it's poor people living there anyways, who cares right? (their logic). Most of the neighborhoods being gentrified are still in prime locations of the city with cheaper property. It's inevitable that 'affluent' people will move back in and push the poor people out.

Black people and poor people need to stfu and stop complaining. Go somewhere you can AFFORD the cost of living, live a decent life and most importantly, OWN your property, businesses, neighborhoods, schools, etc

You are right. But affluent doesn't mean white. Affluent people could be black, hispanic, asian, etc. Going back to my post at the end of the day money talks. When rich people move in they expect certain government services. If they don't receive it they know the proper channels to go get it done. I think during that period you mentioned, had the black population had a wealthy tax base things would have been different then.

Yeah Spike mentioned that... Move to the Midwest, or south. Maybe even North Mexico would be a better more affordable existence than NY...

You're still asking them to leave home. That's not easy to do. Besides when poor people move into other poor neighborhoods, other poor people resent that.

Poor people in NYC = middleclass in the South and Midwest.

And you can either leave home on your own will or be pushed out.
