Wasn't feeling the movie until the twist happened. Movie got a lot better after that.

Peters and Nate Parker were great, but the kids were awful, especially the girl. I'd probably give the film a slight recommendation. 6/10

I agree, those kid actors were fukking terrible. That kind of distracted me because they came off like kids performing in a middle school play. Overall the movie is so so, nothing special. The guy who played the grandfather killed it though, very good perfomance.

The story is actually really good. But he did a terrible job telling it. The pacing was so slow. It goes from a casual stroll in the park to an all out sprint. Nothing happens until 40+ minutes into the movie. By the first 30 minutes something dramatic should have happened,

either the boy got robbed or beat up by the bloods or getting in trouble by that white lady with the wet cement

Most scenes were entirely too long. This movie could have cut out a whole 40 minutes and still been able to get its points across. Once it got to the twist which you never ever see coming it got really interesting. But there was no build up no development no nothing, it was just thrown at you. I applaud him for taking on pedophilia in the black community because that shyt goes ignored. His emphasis on white jesus was great. You could play a drinking game based on how many times white jesus shows up. I gave it a 5. The IMDB rating for this movie is accurate

The movie was decent. It started out slow but got better.

@ when those Bloods beat up the preacher.

The girl acting was terrible now that y'all mention it.

Ol' boy Mom was wrong for leaving him in the projects for the summer.

I just watched it.

It seems, Spike Lee tried so hard to get his groove back.. ..Clarke Peters did great job for his role while the kids are just damn awful, nonprofessional actors, kids scenes almost put me to sleep. The story is okay but no message so more like sh!tty on the church culture, etc. poor delivery. The twist scene only woke me up.

Some scenes are like really? like having Mookie in this movie and having "Clay Davis" for saying "SHEEEIT".....reallly?

Grade: D+
