Half of you guys have female managers at your current occupation as it is right now :stopitslime:. Change is coming and there will be a woman NBA head coach. I do agree that she would need to go to a team that is rebuilding and grow from there. She needs a long leash before a team can justify cutting her over performance.
Working in co-ed buildings/occupations it is normal to have female leadership. An NBA team is not that.

I wouldn’t sign Becky for my team the Cavs but some teams I could see her fitting in that are in some places Sacramento, Indiana, Minnesota, Orlando, Portland, washington are all teams I think should consider her. Clearly she wouldn’t be all of these teams first options. Some of these teams don’t even have job openings
Hopefully this changes soon. And I'd have no problem at all if she were in the mix. :yeshrug:

i was just thinking of somewhat progressive areas or franchises that needed a buzz that may have an opening. I’m not sure what they are doing in Washington but I assume they will go all in on Masai and from that point let him make the decisions if he leaves. But I’d hate to say it the wiz should probably consider moving on from Beal and russy unless it’s a way to bring in a 3rd guy.

Since @Skooby is sidestepping, then I’ll ask you - why are men allowed to coach women’s professional sports if y’all are into this whole “it’s not a coed” occupation thing? :jbhmm:

I think women are capable of coaching. I’m not sure if the men are receptive but my expectations for pro athletes is more so that their personalities need to be managed more so than their abilities that’s why you have a staff. But it needs to be the right situation with the right players. Either a complete rebuilding situation or a team with a strong star and owner who will support her.

Then why it is okay for a man to lead a woman professional team? Should it goes both ways?

Historically women were not in positions of power, that's why men coached womens teams.

Also, men are typically better at the sports in which they are coaching.

I think the arguments for the Becky naysayers in this thread hinge on a couple of inaccurate assumptions:

-that male pro athletes would never follow a woman
-that a woman can’t lead men

Having been around lots of folks (mostly executives but some athletes) attached to professional sports organizations, men and women, I can say that the men have far more respect for the women than some people in this thread assume, so much so that they rightfully base their respect for female personnel on their knowledge and performance. What I’ve also noticed is the women involved in sports are JUST as competitive as the men (and sometimes just as direct, mean, harsh or whatever qualities are ascribed to testosterone filled men in athletics).

That is to say, if Becky Hammon fails as a head coach one day it won’t be because of her gender impacting her ability to lead and based on my experiences, I feel very confident in saying that.

And before someone says, “well why aren’t there more women in sports organizations”, it’s probably because of the kinds of assumptions being made in this thread. :yeshrug:
