Y'all gotta stop with the stupidity of saying passing on Donovan Mitchell is a nail in the coffin. The only way the front office gives a shyt is if the owner had him as the guy and Stan over ruled him. No one knew D.Mitch would be this good. Stop the bullshyt.
It’s not up to us fans to know if d Mitch would be good, we don’t get paid 30 million dollars to make personal decisions. I would bet my big toe that Mitchell did things in his workout that Kenard can only dream of. And Stan took his 2nd first rd pick of a stiff white boy that can’t guard a cross walk.

no it wasn’t. He came in and overpaid Reggie Jackson and Jodie Meeks and Jon luer and boban. He signed Drummond to an exstenion. Team was set up perfect for a tank job when he got here.

And if he tanked like he should have they'd be in a great spot right now. But noooooo Stan the gm was too worried with trying to help Stan the coach.

So you think the team would have ended up with a better record or a worse record with Mitchell?

Of course they would, especially since he'd be absorbing minutes from an injured Reggie Jackson. But that's an irrelevant question since it doesn't relate to what I was saying. Are you purposely stupid or dap fishing?

I hear what you are saying about nobody knowing Mitchell would be this good but still.....:patrice:

His job as POBO hinges on him being able to make good draft choices even if after the fact.

put it to you like this. if he wouldve had Booker, Turner, and Mitchell, he probably wouldve gotten a re-up instead of early termination.

I wouldnt say FO didnt give a shyt when they look at what these players are doing for other teams knowing they couldve been on the Pistons roster. :comeon:

Front offices (good ones) don't operate on hindsight bias. If Gores wanted Mitchell and SVG was like nah, let's take Kennard - then he's in some shyt. Missing out on Mitchell isn't going to weigh heavily on his firing unless the owners are stupid. And yes as POBO it's his fukkup for not scouting correctly - but it's not like Mitchell was a can't miss prospect with HoF upside that he turned down for nonsense reasons.

damn near every piston fan wanted Mitchell the night of the draft and Mitchell wanted to be in detroit. it sealed his fate (with the fans). the Blake trade was an ownership move.

ive said it before and I'll say it again:

the pistons drafted Stanley because kcp made Booker a non priority, then they drafted kennard cause they needed shooting since they passed up Booker.

in the middle of that kcp gets let go to get Avery Bradley and then he becomes a key piece in getting Blake.. now their stuck with horrible cap space and not with two franchise players who are in the west.

ALSO he lets go of baynes who played 4th quarters the year they had a winning record cause Drummond couldn't shoot FTs..to give boban 7 mill a year to dance on Instagram and Marcus Morris and Tobias for a bad Blake contract.

SVG is the absolute worst and the fukked up thing about it is he'll have some half assed response knowing he doesn't give a damn cause he got paid out. fukk this guy.

Doesn't matter what fans wanted. Y'all can't get him fired for not drafting Mitchell unless ownership agreed or is trying to pass off blame.

I agree with him being a terrible GM. He and that FO didn't understand play evaluation, how to create good contracts, or how to retain solid players. Iirc they gave away 4 players that are playing real minutes on playoff teams right now.

Hey bruh I'll tell you a secret - the NBA draft is a crapshoot. College and overseas leagues do not mirror the NBA game. So teams can only account for so many variables. No team in league history except OKC has hit on multiple tier 1 picks and even they didn't know how good all 3 were. You blame GMs and POBOs for really bad things they can control - salary cap, player acquisition of athletes with a track record, trades, and talent evaluation of FAs. Blame people for the right things instead of crying over Mitchell. Dude started the season terribly, killed in December, and none of y'all knew who he was till the ASB when the Jazz went 29-6 with Gobert back from injury. Stop frontin.

7 years of Casey-ball ends tonight

Remember when this geezer would play Aaron Gray and Jamaal Magloire together? Starting Rasual Butler 20 straight games even when he failed to score a single point? It all ends tonight :blessed:

So you DO believe that Mitchell would have increased their wins yet you DONT believe that winning more would have increased the odds of SVG keeping his jobs?:mjlol:

the fact that I have to hold your hand and help you work thru your own ineptitude step by step is very indicative of your basketball knowledge :mjlol:

Cavs did
Philly did
Warriors did

Just to name a few off the top of my head.

Im talking consecutive picks under the same FO. The Cavs only got Kyrie - Wiggins, Bennett, and Thompson arent that level.

Philly still has to wait on Fultz, and he's a pick from a different Front Office.

The Warriors drafted Steph and Klay but weren't sure about Draymond. They weren't even going to play him at all under MJ. Kerr saw him practice in training camp, and when Bogut got hurt he got his chance. They didn't know he would be this good.

You can't be this stupid :mjlol:

Of course he'd have retained his job. He'd retain his job if he had LeBron instead of Kennard and Steph jnsinst of Reggie. But it's not relevant because he isn't being blamed for not drafting the kid.
