IMO lose weight first. I was in the same position at you, I cut at 1700 and lost the weight while getting stronger (noob gains)

You shouldn't be eating 3000 calories a day bro

My advice is if you have 260 bucks Greg Gallagher from kinobody will make you a custom workout and meal plan based on your build and goals. Unlimited emails a month and an hour Skype session to discuss it all. Google him

So basically just cut and start lifting

at the same time yes. i went through the same exact thing except i did starting strength. if you are new youll make gains no matter what you do though.

then once you're down a decent amount you can just continue except bulking

your gonna need like 3 days of cardio too man...i would do strength training first if i were you ...start at a heavy weight and do 5 reps for your first set rest 3 minutes lower the weight by 10% and do 6 and then rest 3 minutes lower weight and aim for 8...do that for your back chest and biceps

for shoulders do strength and a bulk for size by say doing the 5,6,8 format with db shoulder presses lowering the weight by 5 each set and lateral shoulder raises with a weight you an do 12 times and do 12-10-8-6-6 with 30 seconds each set

the 5,6,8 format with lots of rest will harden and sculpt your muscle
the 12-10-8-6-6 format with 30 seconds rest with same weight will build size by adding water

mix both depending on how you want your physique to look

starting doing this style about 2 weeks ago and this is what i currently look like. I'm not the most muscular guy or jacked but i feel symmetrical

Why the weighted chins? Why don't you start with no weights?

this, do weighted chins once you lose about 20-25lbs first

however, if you can do chins no problem by all means dont let me stop you :whew: whatever you do trust the same progression(either add weight per workout or per week)

I wanna start this too but I can't do any chin ups. What can I substitute for them?

Close-grip underhand lat pull-downs on a machine.

Make sure you keep your back at a 90 degree angle to the floor, don't lean back. The key is to be in as close of a chin-up position as possible. Work these into your back or bicep days and progressively add weight as you get stronger. Push for as many reps as possible on your last set, and add either a set or additional reps each day you do these. Your first goal should be to be able to get comfortable pulling down your body weight (in plates on the machine). After that, anything more should give you ample strength to complete your chin-ups properly.
