State of Play made me realize something concerning about Sony.

I still remember when peopel were saying the fast loading times and 60fps performance modes would be going away by mid generation because developers would just use the extra power to push graphics lol

no one here knows shyt, yall just talking in circles for another console generation

Dog this is not enough stuff :dead: if you told yourself this during the ps3 generation I guarantee you'd smack the current fatboi. I'm currently looking at 5090s, you trying to play on a ps5 in 2028? That's crazy
What is your point? You'll be playing on a PS5 in 2028 to play the exclusives that come out there when it comes out. None of the games I mentioned were out on PC day 1. Why would I be hyped up to play a game and talk about it all the time only to then ignore it for a year+ just to possibly play it on PC? Are you going to wait a year or so for GTA VI to drop on PC? You'll be playing it on PS5 Pro if you have one. Also bringing up PC as if everyone who bought a PS5 has a capable PC of playing the same games there exceeding the graphics and performance of the PS5/Pro is weird. My GPU was $700 alone, not every PS5 owner also has a $700 GPU and patience to wait for the games to drop on PC. You'd be sitting there from February 2024 to December 2024 waiting on the announcement of Rebirth on PC.

You gonna play Intergalactic, Wolverine, Ghosts of Yotei, FFVII Part 3, Saros, Santa Monica's next game etc. on PS5 because that's what it'll be out on. You're making an argument about old games that released on PC years later as if that applies when it releases.

Also that was just FIRST party titles, excluding the third party console exclusives the list is even better in favor of the PS5.

Your argument is there was no drop in titles. My argument is there was a first party shift to GAAS titles and the stuff in the pipeline before that got released a hand full of PS5 exclusive titles got released but their output was impacted even though I did say it didn't really have a notable impact on sales. You posted a list that amounts to basically a single PS5 exclusive title a year average and a bunch of cross platform games and said there was no drop.

The reason I'd say their sales weren't impacted is because they really don't have a legitimate competitors in the upper end console space rather than their flawless execution. They've probably cancelled more PS5 exclusive titles than they've released.
Your argument initially was that there was a drop in PS5 first party titles, I posted a list of games and then you started removing games from the list because a few of them were cross platform games. I never see anyone do that for Nintendo platforms. Their biggest game in 2017 was also on the Wii U but nobody uses that against the Switch's library. Also the GAAS titles still didn't impact games as the list proves that on top of the fact that we got a lot of third party console exclusives. Are you going to say it didn't matter that Stellar Blade, FFXVI, FFVII Rebirth and Helldivers 2 didn't add to the PS5's library last year?

@MeachTheMonster A timed exclusive is something that is literally announced as so with a release date for other platforms right there at launch. Indiana Jones is a timed exclusive because we knew it was coming to PS5 before it even released. Same with Tomb Raider which you are quoting me from.

What is the release date for Ghosts of Yotei for PC? Or Intergalactic? What kind of gamer is skipping a highly anticipated title day 1 only to speculate for months on end when it'll release on PC?

A timed exclusive is a game that is slated to be released on another platform, doesn't matter what deceptive marketing or mental gymnastics companies use. Consumers shouldn't be advocating for deceptive marketing in 2025.

What's the release date of any of the upcoming Xbox games with no date going to PlayStation?

Seems to me it has a similar release date of Ghost of Yotei and Intergalactic going to PC.

Your own definition disproves your point. If something is "slated" e.g. "scheduled" for release on another platform, where is GT7? Where is Demons Souls?

Do you know what "slated" means? It means it's announced for a later date.

It's likely that some of these games coming out now will release on PC a year later or so but you do not know that definitively. Now that Forza Horizon 5 is coming to PS5, did you call it a "timed exclusive" a few years ago? It wasn't slated.

Timed exclusives are literally called that with the PC port or other platform port coming at a later date at the launch of the first platform or well before it like Indiana Jones. Your last sentence is a throwaway.

They aren’t “timed exclusives” cause sony likes to lie to the stans about their plans.

plenty of timed exclusives don't do this. most of the time we might get the length of exclusivity, but that info often isn't easy to find

You have to play stupid to not see the error in your question.

Up until Microsoft started failing with the Xbox, none of their first party games were ever going anywhere else. Suddenly, they opened the floodgates and dropped an emergency podcast saying 4 games only are coming to other platforms.

Now one of their legacy IPs, a flagship first party title got announced for the PS5. Nobody called Forza or anything a "timed exclusive" because that literally wasn't supposed to happen. This whole ordeal just started happening with Xbox.

The ones that aren't out yet or announced yet for PS5 simply seems like it's not due to logistical reasons. Starfield for example was literally said to be cancelled for PS5 after the acquisition. Now we got rumors of all these games coming to PS5 with some already here and now one of the games from the holy trifecta officially announced.

Xbox games “maybe” coming to playstation at a later date = All games are coming to playstation xbox has no exclusives, therefore no value.

Sony themselves announcing most of their games will be day and date on PC and a few single player games will come a year after release = that timed uncertainty for a few games is enough to prop up an entire hardware platform.

The way sony stans can weave these two contradictory arguments simultaneously is fukkin amazing :wow:

There's so much mental gymnastics being played here. These dudes have to play dumb, ignore certain evidence and create false equivalencies to make it look like what's going on with Microsoft's first party titles are the same as some PS5 games coming to PC later.

You are the one doing the gymnastics.

Truth is very few games actually stay exclusive anymore.

Even sony published 3rd party games are eventually making their way to xbox.

You want to play the semantics game to “that was different” sony’s side of things so you can keep up your stanary, but reality is PS5 has very few exclusives and PS6 will have even less.

I look forward to your new goalposts when intergalactic gets announced as a day and date PC title:wow:
