A little town called none ya got damn bidness
I didnt tear them in the traditional sense of like sports related. I've had them lengthened, which is them cutting them and stretching them out. Then casted for 2-3 months. I was born with clubbed feet so I had terrible foot/Achilles problems my whole life. I don't even like typing the word, and I never say it loud. It always brings a negative reaction. I refer to it as "The A word."
:jbhmm: Im extremely flat footed and lately I've been experiencing pain in my A-word (like tender to the touch and can barely walk at times) could being flat footed play a part in the pain?

There's all kinds of treatments like somebody said, your body can even heal ruptures without surgery. Not recommended if you're a high level athlete though. Ruptures usually take 2 years after they happen to be "healed" with leg cramping and hamstring tightening mixed in and out after that

The achilles is the strongest tendon in the body and counted on for so much shyt. You're not gonna tear it and keep it pushing like nothing happened that goes for KD, Klay, Tatum, Hali, Dame, Kobe, everybody

I must’ve got an alternative method because I didn’t get screws drilled in me .

But you right it don’t heal in a year .

Not only you do you have to worry about the surgery itself healing ..after that you have to replace all the muscle you lost from your calf, thigh and glute.THATS the hard part.

I've done a bit of research on this and used mainly Soccer players and Track Athletes as the case study. Due to the movements and the type of surfaces they perform on and looked at how long from injury to competitive return did it take and then followed on their trajectory from there for the following 2 years.

What I found is the athletes who came back to competition within 5-6 months struggled and ended up missing more time and needed taking extra time away to recover after initially coming back. Some even still struggle 18months later to muscles I.e the calf not fully healing.

Athletes who came back in 8-9 months generally perform better and gain rhythm and consistency a lot sooner.

The ones who took 9-12 months vary for different reasons. Some of it is just due to age needing extra time. Some circumstance like the season had ended and had the off season which varies from sport to sport. Then you had the athletes who are jinx with the achilles affliction and pick it up like a cough.

The common theme I did find post competitive return in all 3 was that they continue to have issues with the achilles and calf for the rest of their careers.

I think it was the Japanese or South Korean they have done a few studies on this and compared groups of athletes from a variety sports and level and had different results. Some athletes were fine and continued to play sports post injury. Some ended up retiring with a couple of year even after coming back but felt they werent the same athletes pre injury. Some couldn't recover at all.

KD had special circumstances and was lucky he didn't get to play for 17/18 months. No professional athlete is getting that long to recover. And the only way they would get all that time off isn't for good reasons I.e. set backs in recovery or they've re-injured themselves. Also we have to realise that athletes can be blinded by overtraining trying to get back as quickly as possible. They too don't help themselves.

Another finding I did come across is that the injury post surgery and once training has resumed with no setbacks the injury does need to be stressed at a competitive game setting at some point and waiting over a year to get back to competition can cause problems itself.

I broke my leg in two places in a Segway accident. I got a whole plate in my foot plus about 10 screws in the foot and tibula/fibula (whichever is the bigger bone) I was out of commission for like 6 months back in late 2019 came back to work just in time to go back home for the Covid shut down lol

It can be. Not a one size fits all situation but that's been a reason to get it done. Mine were so tight that I walked on my tippy toes and didn't even realize it til someone pointed it out to me.
