how did the tactic not work when it allowed 3 pts over a 5 minute span :gucci:

they gotta hold them scoreless in order for it to be deemed successful?
It didn't work because they lost. It wasn't even a smart strategy seeing as how steph struggled most of the night and it allowed other guys to get some rhythm and confidence. Iggy had all the time in the world to line up that 3 to ice the game because they were in scramble mode after trapping steph. I know I know, "bu bu they almost got the steal".

I didn't make the point, I just intercepted yo interaction with the other poster. And the point remains yall just playing semantics at this point, they LOST THE GAME PAYING TOO MUCH ATTENTION TO ONE PLAYER. All this other shyt yall talking about is IRRELEVANT. They lost the 3rd doubling Steph on and off the ball as well. There is no other reason a defense of the caliber of Torontos would be giving up layup after layup after layup if not for that fact. Yall arent arguing shyt. And the series is 1-1 point blank. The Raps dropped the ball

yes they gave up plenty lay ups because of GS action off of cuts and screens...and Steph plays a huge part in that along with Klay(cutting and shooting) and Draymond's play making ability....
with only one shooter on the floor, you play a box in one and you cut all that out...there is no ball screen for Draymond and then his play making ability, no baseline screens, no split action, no GS offense, which is why they went scoreless for over 5minutes until that final 3...great win by a great team and yes Toronto dropped the ball...but to act as if the box in one was useless and cost them game is ignorance...

While true I can honestly say I've never seen a team box and 1 a single player in an NBA game of this magnitude. I really dont recall anything of the such. That's extreme respect/fear(let's call it wat it is)for said player, OR the supporting cast isnt as great as advertised and they benefit GREATLY from said player...yall can not have it both
And playing a person from behind is the exact antithesis of a box and 1 my guy, I get your overall point of him not being the 1st to see strange defenses but one was designed to stop a gimmick and force a certain shot, the other is not even wanting the guy to get a look at the rim.....again, in the finals.

And I dont care how much yall say it worked...they lost the game. Lost homecourt. And now gotta go to Oracle to steal one . This isn't a victory for them on any front...they didn't protect home. Period.
Steph called the traps and doubles on him a gimmick defense and called the box and 1 a janky defense

You’re trying to use semantics to prove your point by calling the defense on Harden a gimmick defense, essentially the same thing KD and Curry did on defenses that focused on shutting them down

At the end of the day reality is all superstars face “gimmick” defenses, coaches will focus on stopping them thats why they’re superstars

Period point blank. And now they gotta go fight for they life to ensure they ont comeback home down 3-1....and I promise u wont see that box and 1 for more than 3 game minutes the rest of the way. They LOST THE GAME when it was effective can only imagine the outcome when the element of surprise is not a factor if they try it again, which again I doubt they will.

You think a wide open with all day to line it up 3 for a 3x champ and former finals MVP is "low percentage"?
He’s missed that shot before, he had missed his last 11 3s before that game

It amuses me how you guys swear you know how you’d coach in that situation better than a seasoned coach

Nah your remedial the box and one don’t fly in the nba for a reason.. League and the refs ain’t gonna let you man handle and maul star players like that and it requires you to be over aggressive on defense plus that defense gets neutralized by players like Draymond and boogie in the high post..

Scam clown and learn the game
How many fukking points did steph score during the last 6 minutes of the fourth. Do the math for me lil one then get back to me.

Until then don’t touch your keyboard again to type to me moron.
