Mike D’Antoni laid the blueprint with Phoenix. If you wanna go back even further you can say Don Nelson inspired Mike. Daryl Morey and his emphasis on analytics took it to the next level. Steve Kerr was a part of that Suns staff and took everything he learned from there to GSW. At no point during GSWs run, did they even lead the league in 3 point attempts. If Steph Curry never existed, the NBA would still be a 3 pt fest because of teams like Houston. It's more than just attempts. Those Phoenix teams never achieved long term success. Steph helped build a dynasty off of it.
