Following a disastrous first-round sweep to the Minnesota Timberwolves, the Phoenix Suns already appear on the brink of breaking.

The Athletic's Shams Charania reported that Kevin Durant was frustrated with the Suns' offense and that Phoenix will consider moving on from head coach Frank Vogel.

And now, ESPN's Stephen A. Smith said on "First Take" on Monday that Devin Booker may want out of Phoenix. Smith said if Booker does want out, league chatter suggests he'll want to go the New York Knicks.

"From what I'm being told, I don't know if — it'll probably never happen," Smith said. "Devin Booker wants to be in New York. That's what I'm being told

I haven't spoken to [Booker]. I'm just telling you the scuttlebutt in the NBA circles is that brother wanna be in New York."

It's unclear if Booker has any desire to leave Phoenix. He still has four years, $221 million remaining on his contract, according to Spotrac.

However, the Booker-to-New York rumors were bound to start, especially with the Suns' flailing out of the playoffs.

The Knicks have long coveted bringing a superstar to New York (some would say a second superstar, given Jalen Brunson's ascension). Not only are the Knicks a team on the rise, they have a surplus of draft picks to trade and contracts to send out in deals.

It's unclear, though, if Booker even makes sense for this Knicks team, which is thriving with Brunson as the head of the snake. Not only do Booker and Brunson have overlapping skill sets, they would make for a weaker defensive back-court pairing.

Any such deal is likely a long way off. However, it's worth acknowledging, that just one day after their season ended, the NBA rumor mill is already swirling around the Suns.

Booker and Towns were the names always coming up because of the Kentucky connection to Wes. I believe he would be interested but it would be a bad fit with thibs as the coach. Booker is not an energy guy willing to buy into his defensive scheme.

After what thibs is showing with his group of guys he would have more say than Wes. He picked McBride and wanted to give him more playing time. That’s why the Quickley trade made sense.
