In other words, “too Black” :mjpls:.

The truth is that star players and notable names aren't interested in playing in a place like Memphis is because their team, as it relates to management and how it's run simply sucks, they've never been a hotspot location for NBA stars, etc since becoming an NBA franchise.

I'm sure if safety were such a concern, they'd be running to play in Utah :comeon:.

Stephen A. with his usual mix of wannabe political figure/closeted Republican talking points, and you can tell from the thumbnail the Morris twins looking at him on some “:martin:”.

I went to school in Tennessee for a year and to put it mildly, there's not alot of prosperity in Memphis :pachaha:

I'm surprised the NBA didn't choose Nashville over Memphis to be honest.
only reason why they didn’t is the city of Nashville refused to build an additional arena for the NBA as the Bridgestone center was only a few years old when the grizzlies left Vancouver. Memphis built Fedex Forum for the Grizz

If you talking Murder Capitol DC wasn’t nothin like it. When I got to college at Morgan state and messing with chicks out there who lived in Baltimore, I used to think to myself all time that Baltimore reminded me of DC inthe 90’s . One chick sued to always be warning me when I used to come see her and I had to tell her after a couple of warnings, that it’s cool, I understand this and I know how to move in these areas.

If you saying that Memphis reminds you of Dc from that era, then I understand where SAS is coming from.
It wasn’t drug wars bad.

But that period when Marion Berry was mayor in the 90s after prison.

Shelby County is relatively close to the arena and plenty safe with nice houses.

Memphis is in Shelby County.

What area are you talking about specifically? Collierville?

But back to the topic, Memphis overall is just such a trash city not only for young adults, but for families. Ain’t shyt there for you to do! If I was the family of an NBA player in Memphis I couldn’t wait until they were traded.

There are no entertainment options outside of going to the movies. There are no amusement parks, no water parks, no science centers, nothing. Even the bowling alleys are dangerous. They got one raggedy ass mini golf location in a dilapidated building right off the expressway and a Main Event where people stay fighting and shooting.

Wait, they somehow do have a fire ass zoo though.

Clicked the thread, and without fail I see posts equating people not wanting to live around violence and unsafe areas as "Sellout" or "MAGA"

Can't say I was even surprised :mjlol: :dead:
Nobody even mentioned “MAGA” except your telling-on-yourself-strawman ass.

There’s no disproportionate rates of violence in Memphis in relation to any other blue collar city (certainly not affecting the livelihoods of athletes, in any real capacity). This is nothing more than the same ole tired empty equation of predominately Black culture = crime. You unsurprisingly getting tricked over falling for SAS’ c00n shyt, where he’s doing the bidding for some power brokers who’re trying to move the Grizzlies out of town.

Cordova...I stay out there all the time.

Been to a handful of games, it's not too far away.

Man Cordova is hood now too. My girl used to stay up there.

They shot up the Cheesecake Factory so much they closed that bytch. They stay fighting and acting a fool in Wolfchase. Closed the Bahamas Breeze too. They closed Abuelos. The plaza across the street is riddled with closed stores.

And furthermore no NBA player wants to live in Cordova of all places. I don’t even want to live in Cordova. I’d be celebrating the moment I was traded out of there.

Memphis is a shell of a city where all the things that made it viable have slowly rotted or moved away. FedEx is the only thing keeping that place afloat. I kinda feel bad for what’s gonna happen once the Grizzlies leave.

I could go on and on about the differences in living in a spot like Memphis as opposed to a legit pro sports caliber city.

Still haven’t got my answer I’d anything ever happened to a basketball player in the worst cities Memphis, St Louis, Baltimore or New Orleans. Except international burglar rings that target every city.

People just talking about how bad it is but does it affect multi millionaires who stay away from trouble and live and frequent far from poor and/or gang related people?

I’ve heard a lot of shyt happen to athletes in LA, NY and Miami. Not so much in smaller cities. But there’s obviously selection bias
