No.

I'm convinced more people in here are siding w/ the idea that nobody should be hitting anybody. Sure men should never hit women over words or even a slap or single punch. But when you physically assault someone you ARE provoking them, whether they respond physically or not is not the issue, the issue is that you ARE provoking someone to respond physically. And in that there's nothing wrong w/ what SAS said regarding the Ray Rice incident.
Is there a prevailing belief that it is ok for women to physically assault men? If so, I'm not aware of it. Is your stance that he isn't blaming the victims of domestic violence, he's just patronizing women as a whole?

I havent seen anyone saying that. There is just something inherently wrong with reacting to an assault with ignorant commentary of what the VICTIM should have done differently. People continue to miss that.

I think you are missing the point. Ray Rice fiance said she punched him first. If we STOPPED RIGHT HERE, based on the LAW, who's the victim of domestic violence? Him or her?

Very few women in the media seem to want to answer this question. They want to simply shout over the person talking, "It's never ok for a man to hit a woman!", rather than to agree that neither male or female should hit each other.

What's wrong w/ AGREEING that neither gender should hit each other?

My stance is that SAS is NOT blaming victims of dom violence. To me a victim is someone who is INNOCENT....a battered woman is innocent. An aggressive woman punching a man FIRST removes her from being innocent in the situation, as she then becomes the aggressor and can be arrested as such. That doesnt mean the man is now justified(culturally speaking) to punch her back b/c it still wrong IMO......but he's simply saying that this Ray Rice situation could've been avoided had she not punched(provoked) him to begin with.

And I agree with that and I can't understand why any SANE person wouldnt share that logic.

She is also still with him and wants to continue to be with him. Of course she would want to minimize his blame and punishment in all of this. Besides, if we are putting value in what people are admitting to, how about the fact that Stephen A Smith admitted what he said was wrong?

If Stephen A wanted to make a point that domestic violence is wrong regardless of the gender of the attacker, that would have been well accepted. Instead he chose to key in on women and tell them what they need to do or not do so they don't catch the beats. He compounded it by speaking in vague terms. What exactly provokes a beating? Throwing the first punch? Cheating? Putting too much salt on the chicken?

Listen...I think we need to have a little bit of arrogance as men. We are physically superior to women. Lets act like it.

:gladbron: Wow just wow....You have just set the women's rights movement back to the beginning...You tapped the reset button.:sas1:
Keyword is "physically". You can't deny that in general. He didn't say men were superior to women. He said men are physically superior to women.

I don't think yall really understand the gravity of this sequence of posts.

"He didn't say..." it really doesn't matter at all what he actually said, it's what it was interpreted as...and that's how we all got here in the first place.

My god :wow:

And he did that. Listen to his original comments. He even said that men under no circumstances should ever hit a woman.

And let's not be dense here. "Provoke" obviously means physical attacks.
