First off, nice little bait-and-switch there. The gap between Kobe and Lebron was 6%, not 3%. You tried to use the MJ gap in the Lebron argument.

And the thing you're failing to factor in is that that 6% gap comes AFTER the fact that Kobe "took what the defense gives him."

If that ability makes a big difference, the Kobe should be benefiting from that difference in every game, because he's always able to get the highest-percentage shot no matter what the defense gives him. So this made-up advantage you speak of is already factored into the final numbers - 6% worse than Bron is all Kobe could do even with his "worth its weight in gold" advantage already taken into account.

And in fact, when push comes to shove and you get to the highest stage, the Finals, Kobe's %'s take an even bigger hit. He's only shot over 43% in one Finals out of seven. If his shooting was "worth its weight in gold", why did he have such a tough time cashing that gold in? Lebron, on the other hand, hasn't had any problem scoring at mortal MVP rates in the Finals since 2011 - the only problem being that his 2014-2016 teams needed someone scoring 35ppg at a 55% rate to even have a chance.
If Lbron is so much better than Kobe, why is he on the verge of 2-5 instead of 5-2?:umad:

Any player can do great things if he gets to have his career season six seasons in a row, dumbass. :stopitslime:

But current Kawhi still falls short multiple times - he's not taking out Boston in 2012 when everything falls on him, and I doubt he's dominating the Hawks with TT/JR as his main sidekicks either. Those were uniquely Bron feats. In the other years, he's probably favored, but that doesn't mean he actually does it every time. That's what's so hard about the task.

The odds are way against him. If you're a 70% favorite to reach the Finals 6 times in a row, then chances are you'll only reach 4 times. And being a 70% favorite is a big favorite....Lebron has never been a 70% favorite in the Finals ever.

That's why even Durant probably is coming short at least twice.

If you really get your peak self every year, then 2013 Bron adds a chip in 2011 and might have a chance to win in 2015 and/or 2016 too. The incredible thing about getting 6 Finals in a row is being that good for six consecutive years. No one gets to have their best season ever over and over again.

First of all, no way durant is losing to trash pacers and hawks with wade and bosh
And this is not kawhi's peak, most likely he is just getting started

Yup that's my bad. 6% it is. As far as the shooting percentage goes, that's an interesting question.

No doubt Kobe's efficiency drops in the Finals which probably comes down to shot selection, preparation and level of defense.

But again, Kerr's point makes perfect sense. At least to me. Jordan also shot a relatively low FG % in his last 3 Finals (42/46/43) but he was able to get his points when needed.

Breh they easily make the playoffs without lebron
Replace lebron with another decent small forward like kawhi
They make the finals
Leonard is elite, he isn't simply decent. Leonard would be the Cavs best player by a country mile without James. This wack ass team isn't a playoff team without James, a bunch of one way injury prone fakkits

First off, Kobe shoots a lower % cause he actually, you know, shoots the ball. More on that in a bit.

LeBron is a known cherrypicker/front-runner. He's only letting that jumper fly when he's comfortably ahead. Otherwise, he's doing his best Chris Paul impression and dribbling the air out the basketball.

What did LeBron shoot last Finals? 39%? Ok, there you go. And if you look at the stats, he shot something pathetic like 27% outside 5ft. 2014 most of his numbers came after the Spurs had already taken command of the game and it was over. He's been a statpadder. 2013 Danny Green was about to win Finals MVP while he was getting clamped by Boris Diaw until Ray Allen saved him and he got a once-in-a-lifetime Game 7 where his jumper actually worked. 2011, well, we already know. This Finals is laughable. Kyrie was the only one even TRYING to score in the 2nd half of last game.

Basically when he's not bulldozing and stiffarming his way to the hoop and getting away with all sorts of offensive fouls, he's a brick layer. It's THE reason why he's lost so many Finals. Carlisle told Marion and Stevenson to play off him and dare him to shoot and pack the paint with two 7 footers. Pop even put Boris fukking Diaw on him and dared him to shoot. GSW is praying he takes jumpers but he's too shook to even try at this point.

Last game he only had 19 points until those garbage time layups. Bu-bu-bu-but his efficiency!! Cavs lost the game. And in large part due to his passivity.

At least with Kobe you know your best player is going to at least TRY to win the game. And at least he can score in a multitude of ways when he has a guy like Bruce Bowen or Tony Allen defending him. Put a guy like Kawhi or Iggy on LeBron and we'll... you know how it goes. What has he done when he had Leandro Barbosa or Steph Curry or Biyombo last round guarding him? Pass or throw up a brick... LeBron, Wade, and Durant have gone on record on saying how they don't attempt end-of-quarter shots because it hurts their FG%. Pathetic. Of course you're going to have a pretty FG% when you're more concerned with the box score than possibly giving your team another 3 points.

And lastly, how does he get a pass for 2014-2016? You do realize he built those teams, yes? He wanted Wade and Bosh. He wanted Kyrie and Love. He wanted bums like James Jones and Channing Frye. He wanted the coach fired midway through the season for Tyron Lue. He wanted to trade two 1sts for Mozgov. He wanted to trade Wiggins. He wanted useless Mike Miller.

Crazy how LeBron will literally build a team to his exact liking and you shameless Bron stans will cape for him like "well he would have needed to do the impossible to win anyways."

If Kobe running Shaq out of town or treating his teammates like spectators is a knock on him, then LeBron forming flabbynsick super teams that repeatedly fail has to be a knock on him.

Anyways, 2-5 don't lie. Dude is ass when he faces a Western Conference team.

His biggest competition in the East the last 4 years has been a Pacers team who's 2nd best player was Roy Hibbert. Tells you everything you need to know about his "6 straight Finals" you stans love to jerkoff about.

So what are you trying to say dummy lebron is a better scorer than kobe?

Yes - someone who scores more points at a higher efficiency is a better scorer.

If it wasn't for the large natural range of Kobestan, and the fact that psychology dictates that we remember the shots our heroes make far more than the shots they miss, this wouldn't even be a question.

Kobe is a better midrange shooter than Lebron. He may have had the talent to be a better scorer overall - Lebron obviously was always going to be superior close, but Kobe's a superior enough shooter that he could have been much more efficient and effective. But he spent a good part of his career chasing personal scoring and personal glory, sometimes to the detriment of a good team and sometimes because he felt he didn't have anything better to do on a bad team. The rare stretches where he balanced distribution and smart, efficient scoring were always incredible in the team results. But he couldn't hang on to it. That's what kept him from fully realizing the amount of potential that his skill could have given him. That's why he'll always be a consensus borderline top-10 player rather than the top-5 player who was possible.

(And no, Kobe isn't remotely considered top-5 in a sane world outside Kobestan.)

There's no point in trying to debate with him.

He's more concerned with FG% than the star player actually competing and TRYING to assert his offensive game on the opponent.

LeBron passing up an 15 footer with room to give Shumpert and open look which he will inevitably brick is apparently a better choice than Kobe taking the 15 footer with room and missing.

Bron stans :heh:
