And yes the NBA has overwhelmingly had "urban" acts perform during all-star festivities but this isn't the first and won't be the last time they've had older white artists or pop stars perform. I remember Elton John performing at halftime at one of the all-star games during the early 2000's. Or the year the game was in Denver when they had country artists performing during halftime.

And the irony in all of this is that a rapper is gonna be practically the face of all-star weekend this year
