Reading this thread you'd think Isiah won all them chips all by himself. Like he didnt play with Joe Dumars, Lambier, Aguirre, Rodman.

Utah just had Stockton and Malone and a bunch of white dudes.

nikkas gonna keep ignoring this

John Stockton played damn near his whole career with a player who was far superior to everyone you just named and didn't win a championship. And what star player doesn't win a championship without good to great players around him? Magic and Bird had better supporting squads than Isiah had, Jordan didn't play with bums, etc., etc.

Isiah was a more explosive scorer. If that's what you want out your PG, go for it. It worked in Detroits circumstances.

But to act like it's crazy to say Stock was better, given the gap in efficiency and the longevity, is unfair to Stockton. Stockton, and a player like Jason kidd for instance, play the position more traditionally.

You can pick who you'd rather have, but saying one Thomas is definitely better still isn't supported with facts.

fukk outta here. Isaiah beat Magic, Mike, and Bird all in their prime. Stockton didn't get it done like that.

Isiah was the leader of two title teams. I'll give you that.

But at the same time, I don't think it's fair to make that the reason why Isiah> Stock given the other context I provided

If the Pistons beat a Laker team on the decline in '89 then who did the Bulls beat in '91?

Larry was 33 and had already beaten Zeke 2 times, Magic and the Lakers beat the Pistons team in 88, then lost to Detroit in the Finals the following year after Magic hurt his hamstring and couldnt play anymore....did i mention KAJ was 42 and retired after the series? And Mike wasnt in his prime as yet. Prime Mike beat the Pistons every year in the Playoffs from 91-93 when that Pistons team disbanded.

I think you are rewriting history a bit here with this quote. Take nothing away from Isaiah, but :comeon:

It's not so much that Isiah leading his team to championships is the end all and be all of the argument, but folks are really trying to downplay him leading the Pistons to wins and completely gloss over Stocktons and Malone not leading their team out of the second rd as a 2 seed. I mean come the fukk on. They weren't a power until all of their peers from the 80's were on a serious decline or out of the league. Those squads were losing to the "declining" teams that the Pistons were beating.

You don't have to overrate Zeke's accomplishments, but don't use them as a negative when Stockton, with a top 2 scorer and arguably top 3 player all time at his position, was doing pretty much nothing during that time.

And the Lakers won the championship the previous year because Isiah fukked his ankle up in Game 6 (and still went H.A.M.) and couldn't perform at 100% in Game 7. :yeshrug: And of course Mike wasn't "in his prime" until he beat the Pistons; if the Bulls would have won in '90 that would have been considered his prime.

Im just affording Mike the same leeway Isaiah had with Larry and Magic. Good points though.

But what about Stockton facing those teams?

Well considering Stockton was in a different Conference, im not sure how to answer this. And i dont really remember Magic and Stockton in the playoffs, maybe some other poster can help there. We never got to see Stockton vs Isaiah in a Finals. Maybe if Mike wasnt around, Isaiah wins another ship...or Malone and Stockton have a ring. We will never know. Im gonna leave it as this....Its not as night and day IN MY OPINION...lemme bold it for you fakkits lol....as Zeke being better than Stockton or vice versa.
