This is not really true. Black people who make six figures end up living in neighborhoods where people make 40k. Define "lower class" whites. I mean if you mean those people in trailer parks then sure.

Small sample/anecdotal, but most 6 figure earning black people I know live in 6 figure neighborhoods

And yea, I am talking trailer park type, which is not at all rare.

We can point to completely one off examples like Henry Louis Gates and the like but the reality is people of different races in the same class have much more in common than people of the same race and different classes. A white person in a trailer park faces way more similar issues as a black person in the projects than a white person in a gated community. Anyone who claims otherwise in my experience has a divisive agenda.

Well according to recent polls the people with the lowest outlooks on the future are middle class whites and lower class whites.



Personally I live in the hood surrounded by multimillion dollar houses and my vacation house is in a more affluent area.

And politicians of both sides have used race as a wedge to drive their agenda. When cronyism is in effect it doesn't care what race of people it's screwing over. Black people are just starting from a much worse off point. But even if a politician "cared about us" what could they realistically do over 1 or 2 presidential terms to catch us up after HUNDREDS OF YEARS BEHIND anyway?

I'm not saying they are comparable. Middle class blacks are doing way better than lower class whites. The sky high suicide rates and drug abuse in the latter group confirm this. Actually by that measure lower class blacks are doing better than them as well.

Obviously there are systemic racial issues that affect races disproportionately, but class issues have a way bigger impact. I suppose one could argue racial issues are the reason blacks are disproportionately lower class, but my point is poor people of all races face most of the same big headwinds, and if things were better economically people would have a lot less reason to focus on smaller differences like race. Class is the main driver.

Good read. I'm for Bernie but it's hilarious to see online all of these white people trying to speak on why blacks are not just jumping on his dikk. I've seen reasons from poor low information blacks don't have the internet to the Clinton's own us and our votes

And it isn’t so much that whites want to live among “people who are similar to them,” Krysan and her co-authors write, but rather that “anti-black feelings [are] driving whites’ residential preferences.”

Other studies, the authors note, have found that whites are not comfortable with more than 20 percent of their neighbors being black, while blacks prefer a 50-50 split and don’t particularly prefer either all-white or all-black neighborhoods. Importantly, black people’s aversion to all-white neighborhoods is rooted not in a desire to live exclusively among blacks, but rather derives from the fear of discrimination in all-white neighborhoods.

Over 70% of white people in America don't have any black people in their social circle and do not consider black people their allies. There is no class consciousness in America. If there was, we wouldn't be having this conversation. All people in America think they are middle class and middle class white people don't fukk with black people like that.

i think one could do a lot more than argue breh there is a boat load of clear cut evidence from just the 20th century on this fact, not even going back the couple centuries before...

blacks arent discriminated on in this country because of their class. but we can agree to disagree on that

I didn't watch the debate at all. I think I come off more invested on here than I actually am. I want Bernie to win, but know Hillary will and that I won't be voting for her because I live in a blue state so I can sleep well that night
