But he did say he dumbed down his lyrics to double dollars. It becomes personal when jay stresses fans to pay for music that is admitted to be dumbed down .
But he's almost a billionaire after he "dumbed down" his lyrics right?
So I guess a lot of you jay z fans must be dumb
:mjpls:

That doesnt make sense.

The fans wouldn't be considered dumb for buying music with dumb down lyrics. Nobody buys music for education, music is to bop your head to. Obama and Judge Mathis like il Wayne.

him being rich is not the issue at all IMO. i think it's because the self-proclaimed hustler who could sell water to a well/whale and who dumbed down his lyrics to double his dollars is now trying to sell us a streaming service with a smaller catalog than the competition for a higher price than the competition. No one wants to be the metaphorical whale i guess...

him being rich is not the issue in itself. him being rich and acting like this is a david vs. goliath thing is. artists receiving their fair share of royalties is a good thing. however, him and the people he presented are not the ones suffering from being underpaid and exploited by the industry. they are highly paid a listers. so if he wanted to make this a "cut out the middle man" thing, then he should have presented a plan that shows us how tidal benefits smaller artists, how it helps them develop their craft, establish a fan base and get paid fairly for their work. he didn't do that, he thought that star power would make people buy into the company, but that didn't work. why should ordinary people care if rich artists get even richer? where is the difference to c.e.o.'s of large corporations getting richer? both jay and jimmy iovine are sitting on top of the pyramid, they move in the same circles. the same is true for kanye, taylor swift, madonna and beyonce. so if this is not a charity case, why should people buy a service they can get cheaper elsewhere?

the point is that you don't have to do anything though
there is no mandatory tidal draft lol
if people don't want to buy it, they don't have to
it comes off as a little :mjpls: when people go out of their way to tear at his business decisions (especially if they were never considering a streaming service in the first place or really interested in finance or business at all)
I didn't give a shyt about Tidal until I saw a bunch of rap fans collectively shyt on it :manny:

then don't buy it
I don't understand the point of attaching this narrative for a product that you don't want
if a pair of shoes costs 200 at one store, and 300 at the other one, I'm not going to have a personal issue with the store with the huge mark up, I'm just not going to buy the shoes from there

ultimately you're right but i don't think it's that serious. people are just commenting on the irony and absurdity.

same way people were commenting when kanye was selling 200$ white Ts, same way people commented on the chrysler 300c, same way they commented on the floyd-pac payperview prices, or how apple keeps selling the same phone. it's just talk and jokes (which is what messageboards are used for a lot of times). not that serious.
