I need to see the highlights. Can't tell if this was truly an epic comeback, epic tank job by Chicago, or both.
I watched the entire game. Had to be the most lackluster first half I have seen from the Spurs in a minute. Played with the same lack of focus from 2 games ago. And then....

The Spurs started getting creative on the defensive end. Played a full court 2-2-1 press to speed up the Bulls on offense and then scored a bunch of transition buckets on the other end. Also, some players on the team rely on getting stops to get going on offense. I also like how they are playing the pick and roll now, with the on ball defender having more freedom to go under screens and just being generally harder to screen.

Still can't believe we got him at 29 in the draft

Looks like he's finally getting over that Covid scare.

Saw some people griping about tonight's game against the Bucks on Spurstalk (why Pop played his starters so much against the Cavs with the game relatively in hand). Expecting a lot of Lyles, Luka (hopefully) and Lonnie with Keldon and Demar possibly resting.

Couldn’t get stops when they counted tonight. Hornets fought hard and didn’t give it away. We just couldn’t take it. Mind you I only saw the 4th quarter.

I wanna throw this whole season away. We haven’t been right since the Covid stoppage. The basketball hasn’t been the same. The energy hasn’t been the same. I felt we were turning a corner but we took a giant leap back.

Depends on the expectations you had for the season.

I had concerns about where Dejounte would fit on this roster earlier in the season.
Right now, I think he's solidified his spot as the starting PG for years to come.

The question now becomes...with LMA gone, what will be done with DeRozan? Because they need to figure out roles for the other guys and DeRozan stands in the middle of all of it.
Lately it seems like Lonnie Walker is in No Man's Land.

Is he the SG? Well maybe not if Derrick White is going to have a major role.
Is he the SF? Well maybe not if Demar DeRozan is on the team.

What about moving DeRozan to PF? Well, in my opinion he's too small but then what happens to Keldon Johnson? Because Keldon has seemingly taken the PF spot now (even if he's undersized against some of the better teams in the league).

Do the Spurs really view Lonnie as a 6th man?
And while it may be too early, what do they project they will do with Luka?
I don't want to say the Spurs are a mess. They have a lot of possibilities...this is a good "problem" to have.

And they should have a lot of cap space going forward.
I'm more optimistic for the future.

But what does cap space get you when nobody of note wants to sign here. You end up having to trade for talent, but the FO hasn't made a good trade in years (they still got worked on the Kawhi situation even with how everything turned out).

As for Demar and the young guys, I don't think he's the one holding up the development. Even when he's not out there, guys (other than Murray) are still scared to make a mistake. They pass up open shots or play tentative on offense because they know Pop will bench em with the quickness. On the bench, Patty and Rudy are eating up most of the shots, so that's a different issue. Pop needs to let Luka get real reps and get himself ejected a few times so the players can play with a little more freedom.
