Stumbled across an old copy of J-Kwon Hood Hop I had from middle school and listened just for shyts and giggles on the way home from work. Hearing joints like Tipsy and Hood Hop bang in the whip made me realize...producers during that time were making some amazing shyt. Even guys like Kwon, Mike Jones, and Chingy were getting laced with piff and churning out classic songs.

When it comes to lyricism and classic albums the 90s reign supreme but sonically, early to mid 2000s is GOAT. The production was super-creative and vibrant. Timbaland, The Neptunes, Scott Storch, Kanye, Just Blaze, Mannie Fresh, Swizz Beats, etc. were doing some unique and amazing things behind the boards. 90s production is DOPE but purely from a creative view, does it really hold a candle to shyt like this??...

Production from 2010 to now ain't even comin close to what was going on then. It was the zenith of the Producer in Hip-Hop.

Nah, still the 90s

2000s had bangers that were timeless but in the 2010s, anybody could recreate those beats. it took advantage of technology that wasn't readily available to the vast majority of people at the time

Try and get dudes to recreate Rza/Havoc tracks from the 90s and shyt aint happening at all because to this day, 20+ years later, dudes still cant recreate em

I think the problem with today's production is that everything sounds exactly the same.

Producers either go for the Metroboomin style trap slapper, or the ambient style Drake/PND/The Weeknd beat. There's pretty much no in-between.

No.

Even if Heatmakerz helped make some of my favorite music you have to understand the context of 80s & 90s producers.. They work working with such limited equipment

Back then shyt like Mpcs were not common to the average person. Wasn't nearly as accessible as they were in the 00sz E

It depends what your opinion of quintessential production is IMO

I value different qualities in a higher standpoint than what was displayed in the 2000s ..... Theres an endless amount of anthems that came out in the 2000s that i love, but because of the different qualities I value more in production, I would have to say the 90s still reign surpeme

Its all dependent of what you feel makes a hot beat
