The Neptunes blessed us real well in the 2000s when it came to hip hop beats.:whew:

they were the epitomy of hit-or-miss.

while they had a helluva run thru '02-04 or whatever, their initial run was downright horrible.

one of the main reasons why 2000s is last on my list.

What producers are making mind blowing instrumental albums like cats like Dilla & DJ Shadow?
these soulection and hw&w (and all of soundcloud) artist are putting in WORK

EDIT: honestly im really inclined to say that the 10's > 90's

the production right now is so fukk crazy and out of this world, the problem here is that you guys are using mainstream records. stop using only mainstream records and expand to everything.

the good, the bad, the ugly, the undergrounds, the overrated, the underrated. everything right now is next level

Honestly I think most of y'all are approaching this topic the wrong way. Well-produced singles are a dime a dozen but well produced albums that are well thought out, unique and visionary on the production level are not as common. What are the albums/mixtapes that y'all think stand out in the 2000s as far as O/A production?

What a lot of old head hiphop fans don't understand is that the objective is to make greate music. Like Futures production on 56
nights, which is a classic tape with a lot of credit due to the production. Would never have been nearly as good if it was 94 Nas or 96 Jay spitting over those beats.

We get plenty of great music today, we just can't break it down like its madden. Just like Thr Chronic can possibly be the best album ever, but if we break it down factor for factor it really can't mess with a lot of albums. But this is not a game it's art, breaking it down piece by piece does no justice to my ear if it doesn't sound good as one piece.

Them Lo Lifes...
The 90s

For the simple fact most producers of today got their style or technique from a producer from the 90s and progressed from there.
