Calvin Booth is a bad gm. This bench is terrible. Denver needs to move on from him. Backup center and guard was always an issue and he is trying to push a youth movement in the middle of Jokic’s window.
That espn article from yesterday made it seem like he was getting an extension soon :francis:

I don’t think he does, Shelburne is an LA writer and a bit of a hack. His draft results and vision haven’t panned out. Jokic is going to need to speak up and get him up out of the paint because this roster is going to run him into the ground

Malone is also an issue, we have had huff and Hartenstein on this team and both looked good elsewhere and they got no minutes here and we have been dying to get a back up center since plumlee left.

Looks like MPJ is getting traded one way or another

I don’t think you let Calvin Booth break up a core he didn’t build because his picks didn’t pan out. If you trade MPJ and you don’t win a title this season he has to go. I think pairing zeke with the 2031 first will get you Jonas and that alone will dramatically improve the bench.

That 31 first is the last bullet in the chamber. Don’t really want to use it on a guy that will play 8 mins max in the playoffs

Just posted this in the LaVine Trade thread but...
MPJ Stats: 18.5PPG/7.1RPG/2.8AST on 51.2/38.5/68.9 splits
Lavine Stats: 21.7PPG/4.4RPG/4.2AST on 50.1/42.8/80 splits

They're both having better years than Murray at this point
My question to yal is what is MPJ's ceiling as a #2 or #1 option? LaVine has bought into the new system and style of play in Chicago, his PPG is down a bit because he's playing more of a team game. He could average more to be very honest, but just curious what Chicago sees in MPJ to do this trade because the contracts line up and end at the same time

Maybe it's just the lesser salary for a younger player that intrigues them.

I think LaVine would be lethal with Joker tho.

It is about getting off Zeke’s contract. To move him and open up a roster spot is going to require moving that first with him. Booth got us in this position with his stupid contracts and giving all these players player options like he did Saric

One of my concerns is the loss of rebounding and size that the nuggets have with MPJ being traded. My other concern is Murray going to be able to handle being the third option because that is definitely what is going to happen and will Malone finally evolve the offense something they needed to do with MPJ but never did.

Zekes contract is there to be salary to be traded. We’re over the cap so just getting off it does nothing for us. Gotta use that contract, the first and possibly MPJ smartly, because that’s probably the last big move you have for a couple of years.

I’m lower on MPJ on most, but I dont think he can be a 1 or really even a 2. He can’t really create anything for himself, so he’s just an off ball scorer.

The problem is that zeke has so little value that no one is taking him if it doesn’t include a first. Whatever happens that first is going to be used in any trade because the lack of assets that Nuggets have due to booths mismanagement

His value is fine as an add in. His contract decreases year over year, and he’s young enough that teams can talk themselves into him just needing a change in scenery.

That’s why you use them all together. If you’re just trading Zeke, no ones interested. If you add in MPJ and the pick, you can actually get something
