Yep. Vince thought the purchase of WCW would make all the WCW viewers naturally change over permanently to the WWF. He was terribly wrong. I watched both, but there was a segment of people that were solely WCW faithfuls and weren’t buying what Vince was selling. Invasion turned off people even more, along with the “Winner Take All” thing from Survivor Series of that year.

It's a shame they decided not to keep the WCW and Nitro brand separate and it was due to freaking Buff Bagwell having a shytty match with Booker T. They should have not rushed it kept the brands separate have Vince be some sort of tyrant and wait for all the contracts to end to sign bigger WCW talent before bringing Shane for the invasion angle.

Also he needed to try to keep both brands looking strong as opposed to needing to satiate his ego by having WCW destroyed by WWF. In fact there should have never been a true winner and he could have maintained the value of what he just bought, could have had some great moments and matches and leave it up to the fans to decide what universe was better like comic book fans do.
