There are only a certain number of people they can let into the NBA. It's mathematically impossible for them to review everyone's footage or travel down to see them.

Right now there's a 17 year old who is absolutely dominating somewhere in america or France that is a local celebrity but hasn't gone viral or gotten to the NBA.

If Kobe was born in 2002…. He would probably have very few mid major college offers at best because he developed late. Don’t even get me started on nikkas that develop late and are broke on top of it…. If you don’t have the money for travel ball starting at around age 13 until you graduate, you’re not getting noticed.

Prolly easy to work with and professional at all times

From what I’ve read on Hollywood, and I know very little, so many actors, entertainers period, are divas with extremely bad personalities and hard to work with. Not even just A-listers, It’s D- listers like that as well.

I figured because of this anyone of above average talent that is the opposite of a diva will have certain doors open for them just off GP. Courtesy does go along way, in all professions. A lot of ppl tend to forget that

It’s a combination. But more than anything it’s who you know, getting on their good side, them opening doors for you and never outshining or embarrassing them.

I’ve seen people become millionaires this way. Multiple people. You can have all the talent and/or hustle in the world, but if you don’t follow what I said above you can get blackballed or just never get the knowledge needed to access success.

There are plenty of educated broke people.

To be a major success, there has to be a but of luck involved. Sure there's cases of nepotism, but I'm speaking on those who actually have worked hard. They had a support system along the way. At the same time though, you do still have to work hard because if opportunity does knock, you want to be ready.

Being talented, intelligent, and gifted won't be enough because it's damn near impossible to do it on your own without the right person giving you that opportunity.

Which makes sense for Sam Wilson, if you've read the comics.

Everyone can't be the showstopper, sometimes someone is just a workman.

Steve Rogers is the hype, Sam Wilson is the steady.

Sometimes I think Hollywood has done a disservice to acting, as so often it's the beautiful, otherworldly people who get the shine.

THank God for Europe, where realistic plain Jane's and ugmuggs flourish on screen.

What he is saying is someone must give you an opportunity. Once that happens, your hard work can actually pay off. But if no one gives you the opportunity, you can become absolutely nothing in life.

As he said, many players were statistically better, but they chose you.

I know for a fact, I would be at 100 milly right now if I was white, doing stories on white medieval kingdoms.

But since I do stories on black ancient kingdoms and I am unapologetically black, i am not listed as others in this space even though I sold WAY MORE BOOKS than all the competition, raised way more money, and have significant more academic achievements.

You gotta be selected to break through. I am very successful, but without help, there is a very hard cap on success.

It really depends on having the right skills. If you have good social skills, decent mental health, and good mentors/or a good netork, then hard work will pay off

But if you're lacking in 1 or 2 or 3 of those areas it'll be difficult as fukk no matter how hard you work

Incredibly true.

Maybe some of you are just looking at this from the surface, or maybe I'm thinking too hard, but I feel like metaphorically, he's speaking about the bias and prejudice nature within society that pushes certain types of people to the top while keeping others at the bottom or in the middle of averageness/mediocrity:yeshrug:.

Personally, I've always said that I don't believe in this idea of “If I can do it, you can do it too” perspective., some people are given a headstart and come from backgrounds that made their lives easier; in other words, some people were never in a position where obstacles and lack of resources ever prevented them from succeeding; they were born into that or were fortunate to have (or be given) access to those things.

Kinda like how we've said for the longest that cacs have had a headstart, hundreds of years, economically speaking, in building their wealth in comparison to Black people who've gone through numerous obstacles and dilemmas such as slavery, redlining, Jim Crow, racial sabotaging/atrocities, etc that prevented Black families from maintaining a steady source of wealth that could've been passed down to future generations.

I don't wanna hear that “we all have the same access, it's just up to you to use it” shtick; from the surface, it'll seem like that, but in reality, everybody does not have the same access to resources and easy routes to success.

Work ethic is key but it’s just one piece of the puzzle. The phrase “work hard” is used to confuse and mislead the masses into working themselves into an early grave

Opportunities aren’t given to the smartest, most talented, or even the most deserving. They’re given to the most audacious person who’s willing to do whatever it takes to win

Sometimes that’s the hardest worker. Sometimes it’s the smartest worker. Sometimes it’s a good person but many times, it’s not

In this world, success comes down to whoever’s willing to take the life that they want for themselves. Simply working hard and waiting for someone to reward you isn’t enough
