:mjlol: Sounds like my undergrad comp science classes. The Vietnamese and Koreans were not cool with chinese. Indians was doing their own thing.

There were a good amount of blacks too. So we would just laugh about shyt.

got damn this is true as fukk.

my grad program is basically a feeder for a lot of these tech companies. im one of the "smartest" in my class as a black woman in a room of asians and a few whites.

the asians never speak english unless they want help with something or unless your a super cool black person (aka me for the moment) that they can get some street cred or somethin from. but even they have a hierarchy, like the non chinese speaking asians get shafted or if you dont c++, even if youre asian, they aint hangin out with you on some deep shyt.

Again ...IT'S NEVER THAT SERIOUS. Unfortunately those people you're referring to didn't realize it as such.

They didn't realize it as such because such because it WAS that serious for them. What is it with you nikkas who seem to only read shyt from your perspective and then find yourself puzzled about what other people do in certain situations?

Just because you might "power through" or "man up" that doesn't mean shyt when discussing people who are not you and will react differently than you will if given the same set of circumstances.

I'm not going back m forth with you homie... you and I have a whole different constitution. If you think a job can push you to taking your life I hope you never find yourself in that situation. As for me, there's nothing that could take me there because... drumroll..... IT'S NEVER THAT SERIOUS

Sound Reasoning
According to the diatribes espoused on The Coli, this dude should have been happy as hell. :jbhmm:

- STEM career
- Attractive, in shape wife
- Children
- 6 figga n#gga
- Assuming at 6 certs
- Big house

But dude let stories develop in his head about his life being his career. Work is what we do, not who we are. If you're self-worth is wrapped up in being "an engineer at Uber" or being anything for that matter, other than what you can control via your character, you're in a tenuous position. Because someone can decide that you're no longer an engineer at Uber.

And that thought stream literally terrorized this man's mind. Until the point of no return. :wow:

Jobs come and jobs go. They're simply a means to an end. Unfortunately, so many people lose themselves in their jobs because they have no life plan outside of being an employee. Their entire idea of life is centralized around being of service to something outside of themselves via being employed. So, if they're not in the "right kind of job", their self worth is in the sh#tter. And when they do get the "right job", they kill themselves trying to keep it....even when that's not their decision to make.

This is why I chuckle when I hear people brag about their job or what they do. Because their entire concept of self is wrapped up in someone else putting them on. Letting them work in a cubicle or even a corner office that they've decided to bless them with.

It's quite pathetic to be honest. :yeshrug:

Peace

That's what is was, fundamentally.

As people, we get so wrapped up in titles, jobs, etc.

This breh's death needs to be a lesson to us all.

Aaron Hernandez's fall and death should have been a wakeup call to the youth.

And Joseph Thomas' death should be a lesson to us who think we've "made" it.

We need to talk about this as a community.

Most of you Coli friends saying there's more to the story likely haven't worked among cacs and other non-Blacks at these big tech companies.

Uber's culture is already under fire for its treatment of women.

Can you imagine what the culture is like for Black men? :mjpls:

I was just reading this the other day...

Uber's terrible, horrible, no good, very bad 2017

Uber seems like a really shytty place to work

The responses in this thread tell me we have a long way to go as far as educating the community on issues of mental health.

It is not as simple as "manning up" or "he is a p*ssy for killing himself" or "he could have just quit his job"

The brain under stress/depression undergoes physical changes as well as chemical ones. You can't just snap out of it without seeking medical help.

He certainly could have quit and he wouldn't have landed another job in his field again.
why is that?

its one thing to be fired...but to quit it wouldnt have been an issue finding work elsewhere. you stay spewing nonsense

we have more to lose and longer lives to live, just off gp, think about that.

What does this have to do with him killing himself
