I hear you, but a whole lot of this is on Nintendo. They have literally used the same characters for the past 30 years.Gamers today are idiots who buy the same shytty fps games with no depth or creativity

and the nes/snes only had that support because of how dominant they were. They have NEVER had good 3rd party relationshipsElectronics Arts.
Nintendo's third party woes date back to the N64. This isn't new.
when there wasn't a choice everybody fukked with them. when the choice was Nintendo and Sega people still messed with them. Sony and now Microsoft enter the picture and it's a wrap.and the nes/snes only had that support because of how dominant they were. They have NEVER had good 3rd party relationships
Less then 4 out of every 100 Wii owners bought Skyward Sword. More people bought Link's Crossbow Training

Winb83 has lost his mind.
3rd parties were all on board for the Dreamcast. The Dreamcast was actually selling better than the Wii U......Sega just ran out of money. They're situation is completely different than Nintendo's. Nintendo's problem is they make hardware with only their 1st party titles in mind and 3rd party devs have said numeroustimes that they had little to no communication with Nintendo when the Wii U was being built. This is the exact opposite of what Sony and MS did.
And what company do you know that would drop out of a market by choice after setting company records in that market just a few years ago?![]()
I agree but I think EA would support Nintendo if they got their shyt together and made their console profitable for 3rd parties. They laid off people twice this year so I doubt they would pass up a chance to put games on the system...even if it was an outsourced inferior port.No EA on the Dreamcast and the pirating KILLED THEM.
at people saying "Wii-U flopped, Nintendo is done", as if Nintendo ain't worth $14 billion solely off gaming. They ain't going anywhere because there's no where to go. If Sony or MS has a bad gen or two I guarantee they'll drop out because they have other shyt to fall back on. Gaming never was their primary concern.
at comparing Nintendo to Sega. You're either too young to remember what happened there or you're remembering it incorrectly. Sega didn't have a bad gen....they made several terrible mistakes, for years, until the brand was eroded beyond saving. They never had a Wii type success, in their entire run. They never had a 3DS, either, when the chips were down.Sega's streak of Sega CD -> 32X -> Saturn -> Dreamcast just crushed all sega genesis success and profitability. And they did a poor job with portable gaming on Game Gear [yes I had one] and Nomad. Some of you cats sound crazy as fukk.
Nintendo isn't going anywhere. To put it into perspective the PS2 was the best selling console of all time, and the losses from the PS3 completely wiped out any profit from that. Did Sony bounce from the console business? No.

Don't get me wrong the Wii-U is a terrible console but it would take multiple gens of Wii-U style flops to even remotely damage Nintendo, to the point of them bowing out of the console business.
Fred.
Many franchises are going forward with the same characters, just adding new ones to the roster. With that said Nintendo does need new IP and now. I love the new mario game...shyt is almost as good as galaxy.I hear you, but a whole lot of this is on Nintendo. They have literally used the same characters for the past 30 years.

On the subject of choosing a video game.....my five cents....
Personally, I think the Nintendo is a piece of right wing garbage akin to the
IBM PC. Slow, out of date, but heavily marketed so that mindless dweenies will
think it's the hottest thing since Zelda had her first period. I have yet TO
SEE A SINGLE GAME ON THE THING SUBSTANTIALLY BETTER THAN STUFF I PLAYED ON MY
OLD ATARI 800 SEVEN YEARS AGO.....Yes, there are some nice games, but they do
not do anything extraordinary and in fact clearly show the glaring limitations
of the thing's inferior pre-VLSI hardware.
On the subject of the Sega Genesis and the Turbografix 16. At least these guys
are using hardware invented after the Apple II, give 'em credit! The graphics
in these games are NICE! I really can't give a decent opinion as to which is
better, they're both fantastic!
But now I get to stand on my soapbox and have some fun. Correct me if I am
wrong, but isn't the Atari 7800 superior hardware wise to the NES? I heard
thing could manipulate 64 BIG sprites at once. It was developed right when
the slump hit the videogame industry, and two fantastic and innovative games
Rescue at fractalus and Ballblazer NEVER got the recognition they deserved.
I have yet to see ANYTHING on the NES half as good as these wondrous
creations from Lucasfilm. All I ever see are variations on the horizontal/
vertical scrolling find the magic trinket and or blow it up while a host of
randomly drawn stick figures get in your way theme. I'd rather pay 25 cents
in an arcade and at least get decent graphics and sound.

Sega's streak of Sega CD -> 32X -> Saturn -> Dreamcast just crushed all sega genesis success and profitability. And they did a poor job with portable gaming on Game Gear [yes I had one] and Nomad.
and winb, we pretty much agree, but we don't think it will EVER happen, because of who nintendo is. Wii-U's failure is still a borderline success and they'll come out with new hardware in a few years to play the next generation of their IP, and allow 3rd parties to develop for it if they want. If they had their way, they'd come out with game-and-watch individual hardware for every game they made if it was cost effective I imagine. The bottom line with Nintendo is this. they can no longer do what Sony and Microsoft can. They can't build a top of the line box that pleases the fans and pleases the third party publishers / developers.
They desperately need to hand that off to someone else. let a Sony or a Microsoft go out there and work with the developers, publishers, and worry about the fans. Let them bring Nintendo a box with the support Nintendo will likely never be able to garner on their own again.
In the last two cycles Nintendo snuck by by but the heavy dominance of the PS2 is gone and the gimmick home-run of the Wii has passed. the clock has struck 12 on Cinderella and all the bullshyt is gone. all Nintendo is left with is their core base of loyal followers that will spend $300+ on a box just to play Nintendo games. what i'm saying is that number of people willing to spend that kinda money on just a Nintendo box that only plays Nintendo games for the most part is far too small to justify what they're doing.
I'm saying this as a person that has owned every Nintendo system except the Virtual Boy and currently owns a Wii U. Nintendo makes great games they make terrible systems and they don't need to make them anymore. as the industry around them continues to grow Nintendo's influence in the console space either stays the same or is shrinking.
Nintendo should approach Microsoft or Sony and strike a deal. We work together on the hardware conception and you produce the box and we put out all our console games for that box alone. Nintendo fans would follow them. these are the same people that spend hundreds on just a Nintendo console. if the only place they could get Nintendo games was on an Xbox console it would be a blessing to them.
