what about the Dudebro shooter playing guy that only plays a Call of Duty, Halo, Battlefield, GTA style games? like I said that gamer has no interest playing a Mario game. Nintendo could make the greatest Mario game of all time and all he wants to do is play online shooters and sports games.

Nintendo's problem isn't even their console's specs. its that the style of game they make has a certain kind of appeal. Sony and Microsoft have expanded the gaming market with third parties to include gamers Nintendo's style of game and quality of software are totally lost on. Its almost like how Sony made the Move trying to appeal to people who were buying the Wii and the Move was a complete waste and didn't reach them at all. Sony quietly conceded that they weren't gonna get that segment of the market and the Move is on clearance racks everywhere now.

you kinda have to have an open mind to get into a Nintendo game. this new breed of mainstream gamer ain't trying to mess with Nintendo and their family friendly image.

Even if the Xbox and Playstation increase their numbers it won't be enough to make up all the buyers that Nintendo shed. a decent number of those people weren't the type to buy too many games anyway. people that bought Wiis for grandparents to get them active and for rehab.

That's exactly what im saying, most of those dude bro shooters are multiplat. If nintendo made a system that wasnt so damn different from what hardcore gamers are looking for.

Companys have to invest more money into wii/wii u games cause the popular games are damn near impossible to port at the same quality.

So third parties have to either fund games unique to nintendo consoles or release a super dumbed down ports of games.

Neither of which will sell so theses companys see nintendo as wasted investments

Nobody wants to buy a console that wont have many games coming out and nintendo doesnt quite hold enough weight for most to want to buy their system just to play their games.

If they created a system that was capable of the same quality games as the x1/ps4. With a similar pc structure. Whatever little gimmicky controller they want along with a traditional one, these same dude bro shooter could be had at the same quality along with the nintendo exclusives.


People could actually consider it as a main gaming console instead of the optional one.

I dont really see what you guys are arguing about here. The Wii U needs GAMES! they will get money back this holiday season and when Mario Kart drops but other than that they are a joke. the kids want that appealing new console, not the one their friend had for a year with the same bullshyt games. if u look at the commercials than have been airing for the las few months its a easy answer to what is popping at the moment and sadly Nintendo cant win the public over with mario and rehashed Zelda games. they got the same games for the DS and better ones when they really should do the opposite IMO. Back when the Gameboy was out the shyt was dope but couldn't hold a candle to the SNES ect...

It's a damn shame Knack outsold Mario, it's embarrassing really.
I was on the fence about the Wii U but now that I got it, I actually like it and I can see myself playing it a lot more then it's predecessor.

NIntendo they're stubborn as hell or simply ignorant to what the people want, they had the head start on both SONY and MS into the next gen and had they used that opportunity wisely by bringing out a console that was noticeably more powerful then the PS3 with media capabilities and a exclusive game to go with it people would have took notice.

I saw this coming with that presentation they had E3 2012 unveiling the console, Nintendo really trying it's level best to kill itself.

For me every gen Sony and Nintendo is the winning combo, I hope the lack of sales don't make Nintendo re think Mario, just thinking about it makes me feel some type of way.

This is what I dont get.

They basically repackaged the gamecube with motion controls with the wii and outsold sony and microsoft. I know they had to be making a profit since the beginning. You mean to tell me they cant design a 400$ console that can compete with the ps4/x1 spec wise? shyt doesnt even have to be the strongest shyt out x1 level or even a bit weaker would do, it would just have to be capable of playing the same multiplats at comparable levels as the ps4/x1.

Gamers could actually use it as the main console and the nintendo exclusives would be the bonus and the arguement to choose it over the comp

Real shyt if the Wii U did a better job of supporting third parties and had the specs it would be a fukking no brainer.. I mean I'd still probably buy the other consoles but next gen specs/third parties + Nintendo exclusives would be the shyt.

on the one hand its only first week sales and I honestly believe that it will have good lifetime sales. on the other hand its the biggest Wii U must have game and its not moving consoles. at this point it really does look like Wii U is destined for GC status. Not that I mind, GC was a dope console and Nintendo can survive with GC status. Its just a shame because it really is a great system and it seems it will be overlooked by most people.

if Mario cant bring em in anymore, far as i can see the only thing Nintendo can do to win the crowd is release a bunch of groundbreaking original "adult" titles. im talking about new FPS, Racing Games, third person action/stealth games, their own GTA type game. But they cant be multiplatform titles. people just aren't going to buy a Nintendo console for multiplatform titles. if they cant do it themselves they need to fund some folks who can.

the casuals are gone. the first party mascots i believe can get Nintendo through the generation just as they did for GC, but unfortunately they wont win over the majority of gamers. if they want to really move units they have to step into that adult market with some original titles. i know they have W101, which is my favorite game right now, but the gameplay is too niche for mass appeal. basically, right now Nintendo can continue to do the Nintendo games and i believe they will make it through the generation with not good but enough sales to sustain themselves, but if they want that to really capture that adult gamer crowd they need to publish, publish, publish.

the issue isn't the game, it's the system. Nintendo half assed and bullshytted AGAIN on the system and cats aren't falling for it despite the great games being released now on it. Lack of 3rd party support, garbage ass ports, it's rediculous.

32Gb of memory for 300 dollars?

Stick to handhelds and go third party Nintendo. The Wii U jig is up. nikkaz aint having it.

The past two cycles Nintendo has put out home consoles that are vastly inferior to their competitors. even arguably up to a generation behind in specs. up until that point their boxes were always equal or better than the rest were.

Sony and Microsoft have turned the console business into an arms race where they pump billions into producing boxes and loses tons of money upfront on them. Nintendo already backed down from that. they already basically said we can't win that game we won't play it. basically the direction the market is headed in they refuse to go in. so instead they produce boxes based on gimmicks with inferior hardware in them. if the gimmick catches on great but it it doesn't well that's what the Wii U is.

So you want Nintendo to make $1k consoles, sell them for $500 at a 500 loss, with HDD graphics, an array of similar first-person shooters, GTA, and shyt like that?

Copying off of their competitors and losing their individuality? Sony did that with the PS3 and look how they turned out. The abandoned their Crash bandicoots, Their Spyros, their (good) Final Fantasy games and all other JRPGs, just to compete with M$ in America. PS3 with the countless first-person shooters and third-person shooters with hyper inflated gaming budgets that put them in the red along with their inferior online service compared to X box Live made them a shadow of their former self.

I can't even tell the difference of the type of games that Sony and M$ are doing anymore. Their lack of identity made them status that relied on hardcore Sony stans that waited for the "Year of the Playstation" that never came in the PS3/360/Wii generation.

Nintendo is like they console version of cell-phone games. Graphics are not a major factor. If you have fun playing the game, whats wrong with that?
