This speech was really bad, and belies a major flaw in the Superman ethos

"Superman is human just like us" becomes an excuse for Superman to embrace the most indulgent elements of humanity which a hero should be above. I'm sure he's great to have a beer with, but the very fact that he puts on a bright costume and chooses us his powers to save people puts him in a very different position. If you were falling off a roof would you call for me of fukkin Superman?:mjlol:

Why do we protest the police? Because they're "only human" but when you take on certain roles you have a standard to uphold. Y'all want Superman to be the invincible alien that saves everyone and a regular old human at the same time. This requires a lot of cognitive dissonance

That's to say that Superman can't feel emotions, but if he's gonna be a big ass baby flying off the handle he's just a PG-13 Homelander:mjlol:

Ive always said the proof that Superman being a goody two shoe could work on film is Captain America. But i do think there are limitations. You cant ignore the time period that Captain America came up in. He was raised in a Leave it To Beaver climate,so him acting like that seems normal. I dont know if Superman can pull that off without seeming weird or even "alien". Because the thinking would be where did you come from and who the hell raised you with this type of naivety and innocence:gucci:?

Plus i didnt see anger as much as i saw frustration with being misunderstood. When he tries to be too good its wrong, when he threatens people by pushing them against cactus,or intimidate them like he did with Lex thats wrong too. I think hes seeing doing things the right way dont work on two fronts.

When bad people know you wont really hurt them, your implied threats and postuering wont work. Doing things the right way by asking govt permission? Doesnt work because it means people will die while you wait for a green light. I think showing hes frustrated and confused can lead to better storylines than a guy whos just good always.

Much better than this idea Superman is infalliable, only to have him snap one day,or suddenly decide becoming a totalitarian is whats best out the blue. This leaves doors open for him to make ideolgical mistakes in his state of confusion.

Superman just didn’t act like a fully developed 30+ year old man. He was literally throwing tantrums and couldn’t even properly articulate/defend his decisions to justify his actions. It was like watching a live action MARK GRAYSON.

If this was meant to be a teenage/young Superman in his early 20’s I don’t think there’s an issue. But this is a GROWN 30 year old + year 3 superman.

That scene with Superman and Lex in his office and the interview with Lois was like watching when Invincible gets mad and rants at Cecil. With one looking like an angry child and the other like a calm adult.
30-year-old men never get angry?

Anyway, cool, you view it that way. Myself and most other people who watched the movie viewed it a different way and understand why he reacted that way.

There's really nothing else to discuss :hubie:

I get what you're saying but that's the only thing keeping him from being Homelander. Nobody in that universe could realistically stop him if he didn't care. I took it as him establishing the difference between him and Ultraman more than anything. There's no more kryptonite on the planet, no more Ultraman, lol he has to have some kind of weakness and that's his humanity.

What movie were you watching :dahell:

“The Justice Gang” would take down Superman in this universe :dahell:

Stop SHILLING and actually read what I wrote.

I said he’s a 30+ year old man throwing tantrums who also couldn’t properly articulate/defend his decisions which makes him look like a child.

He should have SCHOOLED Lois during their interview.

He did properly articulate his decisions. Lois claims why he didn't go through the proper government channels before doing what he does.

Supes says people were going to die, and I don't need to wait for the government's approval. Seems perfectly reasonable to me.

How?

His position was very clear. People were going to die, I did what was necessary to stop people from dying.

Lois, who was in reporter mode response was, without permission or authority, you flew from America to get involved in an international conflict including kidnapping, torturing and threatening the leader of a country considered one of our strongest allies, creating a geopolitical mess.

This is why I compare and contrast the synder versions so much. I see all of the hypocrisy:russ:

Im not even a Snyder stan, but I do love Man Of Steel. And my number one defense of MOS/Cavil Superman is he's just figuring all this shyt out. Everyone is. What's nikkas miss when they get mad about the Jesus allegory is Snyder is not directly calling Superman Jesus, he's showing how people realistically would react to Superman and his struggles with those reactions. He wants to be human, but when it all boils down nikkas are not gonna treat him like one of the guys

That said, Both Cavil and Corenswets Supermen are the same age. But who gets all the grace and "He needs time to grow?"

If we talking about regular development cool but let's not lose the fact that both are 30 year old men

Even funnier tho is im realizing even Miles Morales, a teenager, is more mature than this Superman:pachaha:

This is personal nitpick tho no?

The movie doesn’t establish nor make it significant through dialogue that he’s a 30 year old grown man.

We are to believe he’s somewhat self sufficient, has a girlfriend & has a tendency to be defensive (ie: the internet trolls). I thought he did articulate his points fairly well Lois just disagreed with him.

How is it not :dahell:

What did Superman do in this movie that makes you think they wouldn’t?
None of the Justice Gang can hold up a skyscraper or giant Kaiju monster like how Superman did. None of the Justice Gang has Supes strength or speed - not even remotely.

Ultraman was a clone of Superman (except being dumber), and notice how none of the Justice Gang directly fought Ultraman.
