Good movie.

Mr Terrfic kind of stole the spotlight.

James Hoult is a wack lex Luther, he has no gravitas

Krypto was the 2nd favorite

Stile not sold on this guy as superman, he’s still kind of dorky

Lois and him had 0 chemistry, i wasn’t really buying into the relationship. It was like one of those things where she hates Clark but is turned on by superman.
Care to elaborate on Lex? I personally liked the performance but I've seen similar criticisms and I almost understand

I'm actually pissed. I f*cking HATE this decision.

I really hope that there is more to the story. Maybe later we get a longer message, or we learn that the message is "real" but was altered by Brainiac or something.

On this subject, Gunn seems to be inspired by John Byrne's depiction of Kryptonians/Kryptonian society, which I hate.

James Gunn claims that his Superman movie is an "immigrant story". So then the message of the movie is that immigrants are dangerous and should completely abandon their heritage? Wow, that's f*cked up.

Damn, Gunn did it again. Finally saw it, I just got out of the theater about 30-40 minutes ago, nothing but positive to say about this. He gave us a straight up textbook Superman, shyt was heartwarming af, he really brought the "The S stands for hope" vibes here and I enjoyed every part of it.

He could destroy the planet if he wanted to but instead he serves, protects and inspires hope. How is that a terrible message :what:

Because it proves that Lex and other humans are RIGHT to be suspicious of Superman (and by extension, Supergirl).

Why should humans trust Superman? All of the superhero things he does could just be a facade to placate humanity. Then, one day, he enacts his mission and "lords over the Earth". I would never fully trust Superman again if I were a human in the DCU.

Also, Supergirl is the wrench in this whole thing. Why hasn't Superman asked his cousin (who was RAISED on Krypton) to decipher the message? If Jor-El and Lara's message is accurate, then why is Kara allowing her cousin to chill and be a protector of Earth? Why hasn't Supergirl wiped out humanity? Or is the viewpoint in the message just unique to Jor-El and Lara? I highly doubt that would be the case, though.

That message raises way more questions than answers. I like the movie, but that diminishes the message a bit.

Yeah it kind of goes against the championing of immigrants that Gunn was doing in the lead up to the film.

"Don't worry, as long as immigrants forget about their roots and assimilate as much as possible they're actually good people".

This is ironically exactly the argument conservatives use, that immigrants don't come to other countries with good intentions.

I'm really trying to see how they address this with Supergirl I understand why fans don't like it. I'm more a fan of the kryptonians being altruistic like the animated series. I let it rock because I love the way this Superman is portrayed.

James Gunn should probably stick to more slapstick and humour characters like Booster Gold or Plasticman

I don’t dislike his filmmaking but his comedy style really was a mismatch for someone like Superman. If he is producing or in anyway hands on for the Brave and Bold project imma stay home for DC films moving forward lol

My Adventures with Superman anime played with this idea so I think he went with it to mimic the show. But I do believe this was done cause it’s The exact same premise as the Invincible comic. Problem here though is that Invincible had the character Nolan still alive to carry out this storyline similar to Zod in Superman except the story became even deeper when we see that Nolan couldn’t go through with it. That internal struggle after nearly beating Mark to death is what made the show so much more interesting because you invested into who Nolan was (a father and protector of earth)

Superman used this idea of genocide and ruling but in a way that was fast tracked and I couldn’t invest into it fully.

Now all of you Superstans can shut the fukk up about my opinion of wanting a scene or dialogue explaining how it was decoded by humans. :russell:

He (Gunn) better come up with an alternative, how can he embrace his kryptonian heritage with a message like that from his people. Also in turn wouldn’t this have him question Kara’s motives. I mean I know his very trusting and seemingly optimistic to a naive point in this universe but he will need to have a sit down with her. I really hope Gunn is just saying things to not give story beats away because I really hate this.
