Metamorpho is not an original member of the Justice Gang. Also, Metamorpho was coerced into turning his hand into Kryptonite.

Green Lanterns are not even remotely as powerful as Superman, even with their rings.

Mr. Terrific's trackers would do nothing but temporarily subdue Supes. Also, in a fight, Supes would turn Mr. Terrific into a pile of blood mist in 2 seconds, lol.

Don't change what I'm saying which was

“The Justice Gang” would take down Superman in this universe :dahell:

Metamorpho is now part of the "Justice Gang" and we already saw him take down Superman.

We saw Mr Terrific established as one of the smartest characters in universe who killed the giant monster by analyzing it's physiology and stated he has trackers already in Superman's body. Mr Terrific is so smart they had to take him off the board in the final fight when Superman went up against Ultraman and The Engineer. He is essentially standing in for Batman and a more powerful version.

Green Lantern was prepared to take on Superman on his own and is on Earth to protect is from Alien threats.

Superman here is like Invincible. He would get washed by a group of heroes the same way Invincible would. It is NOT an Omni Man in Invincible situation where only Kryptonians and strong aliens are threats to him.

How does that establish he’s a grown 30 year old man that shouldn’t be throwing tantrums?

Why are you changing what I said and the point you responded to?

What I initially said that you responded to

I said he’s a 30+ year old man throwing tantrums who also couldn’t properly articulate/defend his decisions which makes him look like a child.

You then said the movie never states he's 30 years old.

The movie doesn’t establish nor make it significant through dialogue that he’s a 30 year old grown man.

I then told you that it does.
They said his ship crashed 30 years ago at the start of the movie :what:

You didn't think/forgot that the movie established that he's 30 year old.

So now you're changing it to "how does that establish that he shouldn't be throwing tantrums?"

But to answer your question anyway - He's a 30 year old + man and 3 years in as his job as Superman, a protector of Earth.

Which is why I said before that he didn't act like a fully developed man but more like a teenager/early 20's person.

Superman just didn’t act like a fully developed 30+ year old man. He was literally throwing tantrums and couldn’t even properly articulate/defend his decisions to justify his actions. It was like watching a live action MARK GRAYSON.

If this was meant to be a teenage/young Superman in his early 20’s I don’t think there’s an issue. But this is a GROWN 30 year old + year 3 superman.

Then why the fukk did he leave the apartment? :mjlol:

And Superman throwing shyt and screaming absolutely makes him Batman:mjlol: Again with the sweeping generalizations that ignore nuance. Superman can be visibly angry without throwing a tantrum. Otherwise why the fukk is anyone supposed to look up to Superman?

ms tessmacher has to smooch supes to save face.

No. Metamorpho is the only Justice Gang member that could reasonably challenge Superman and that's ONLY because he can turn his hand into Kryptonite.

None of the other JG members can even come close to challenging Superman. Just stop it.

He (Gunn) better come up with an alternative, how can he embrace his kryptonian heritage with a message like that from his people. Also in turn wouldn’t this have him question Kara’s motives. I mean I know his very trusting and seemingly optimistic to a naive point in this universe but he will need to have a sit down with her. I really hope Gunn is just saying things to not give story beats away because I really hate this.
Same.

If the message is real and true, then that means one of 2 things: Kryptonians as a whole view themselves as conquerors and have supremacist views, or Jor-El and Lara had a completely different mindset from other Kryptonians.

I doubt the latter would be true, and the former is a b@stardization of Kryptonian society. According to James Gunn himself, this version of Supergirl lived on Krypton for the first 14 years of her life (she's currently 21). So she would have knowledge of both the Kryptonian language and the Kryptonian belief system, unlike Superman. She can substantiate the veracity of the message.

Supergirl knew both Jor-El and Lara; they were literally her uncle and aunt, lol. So she should know whether or not the message is something they would actually think and believe. James Gunn better resolve this BS in a good way in the Supergirl movie.

I'm actually pissed. I f*cking HATE this decision.

I really hope that there is more to the story. Maybe later we get a longer message, or we learn that the message is "real" but was altered by Brainiac or something.

On this subject, Gunn seems to be inspired by John Byrne's depiction of Kryptonians/Kryptonian society, which I hate.

James Gunn claims that his Superman movie is an "immigrant story". So then the message of the movie is that immigrants are dangerous and should completely abandon their heritage? Wow, that's f*cked up.

:francis:

Yikes I’m sorry big dog I know how much you love the legend of Superman :mjcry:

I’m all for these guys doing their own versions and interpretations, but that seems like a notable change.

I’ll let the people decide whether they fukking with it or not. Luckily the casuals won’t care tho.

Some more thoughts this morning after seeing it last night. I get the criticisms of not having an origin story and just dropping us into the world as it is with Superman already in year 3 with other Metahumans fighting crime as well (Not my criticism, but I understand it). I saw a funny comment on social media that was like "This new Superman movie felt like it was an episode 6 of season 2" lmfao. Thing is we live in a world where most (not all) people are much more aware of Superhero media than ever before, so I can see why Gunn just dropped us right into the middle of everything already happening. But for the people who don't keep up with Superhero shyt at all and is a straight up casual, I can see that being an issue for them.

Another thing, I had to ask a friend of mine who saw it before me if the Jor-El and Lara message in the 2nd half was real after leaving, and he told me it was. I know everyone in the movie kept confirming but I don't know I still questioned it. Now I see Gunn confirmed it as well and I don't know how I feel about that tbh. I can see where people are saying it would still be hard to trust Superman in that case, even though he's his own man he still is from another planet. But I think the point was trying to hammer home he's more human than alien.

I still liked the overall positive vibe it brought to the character. I also remember liking MOS, which I haven't seen it in awhile. But I agree with other people that said this felt like a movie straight from the comics. Mr. Terrific was a standout, Hoult as Lex was:demonic:. I didn't really care for the Jimmy Olsen thing ngl.

Also the movie basically being an allegory for everything that's going on overseas I definitely fukked with :pachaha:

James Snorting that Primo Hollywood Perico :skip: , so Kryptonians are evil conquerors (makes sense in an Historical sense the more advanced civilization dominates the weaker one kinda felt like a DBZ/Invincible Rip off) honestly the movie was cool 7/10 The musical score brought it down for me felt like a cheap copy of Reeve's movie.

In regards of the twist ( I would honestly prefer an New 52 Earth 2 twist with Superman Turned into Brutal By Darkseid and Val Zod but zaslav said no:mjpls:)

Gun can't fukk up Batman parents up nor Wonder Woman's is she going to be the Daughter of Zeus or something else entirely? Can't fukk up the Trinity.

That being said They are in good hands if they can keep Zaslav in check from Meddling too much , for example is going to be at least 2-3 years before we see DCU Batman, because of Nirvana Batman can come out in the same year as DCU according to Gunn who's going to stop Zaslav if he sees Marvel/Sony Caking with Spiderman and Avengers Movies.

Interesting year Now Im forced to see the Stupid Minecraft Movie AGAIN. Stupid Summer vacation :stopitslime:

I finally saw it

Thought it was pretty damn good :ehh:

A nice strategic pivot: most live-action superhero movies of the past 25+ years (be it MCU, DCEU, Fox, Sony, etc.,) setup a mostly grounded, ordinary, typical earth to juxtapose against the atypical extraordinary nature of the hero’s powers.

But this movie flips the script where day-1 you have to accept that not only does Lex got a Saturday morning cartoon bag with the tech and resources, but the world ain’t really trippin that giant Kaijus and skyscraper-sized inter-dimensional imps pop out of nowhere. Like, it is a big deal but it also isn’t :mjlol:

So that was an immediate adjustment for me that I also found refreshing; very cartoony/“comic booky” without becoming unserious or goofy.

Pretty much all the characters were good to great. Mr Terrific was awesome; as a comic reader of 28+ years, couldn’t help but grin when he had his moments.

Most importantly, Corenswet sold me on Superman much the same way as Evans eventually did with Captain America (wasn’t until Winter Soldier). Props to Gunn, he did what was needed and now it’s just a matter of how big a box office it can be with the strong word of mouth.
