i'm looking at boxoffice rakings for superhero movies overtime, and avengers definitely changed the game, and subsequently $1B was possible. It wasn't before....it did $1.5B.

But unrelated...Men in Black 3 did $654mm :mindblown: wtf i don't remember shyt about that movie. Got damn peak Will Smith could sell ANYTHING :wow:

THE DARK KNIGHT DID A BILLY
BUT WE KNOW THAT
WAS A GROUNDED OSCAR AWARD WINNING MOVIE
AND NOT LOOKED AT IN THE SAME
VEIN AS TRADITIONAL SUPER HERO MOVIES.

ONCE AVENGERS BLEW
THE SUPER HERO CRAZE BEGAN

The Dark Knight made a billion in 2008.

Also, MIB³ was actually pretty good. Probably the best MIB movie, in my opinion.

The superhero movie craze began in the 2000s. Spider-Man 1 made over $800 million in 2002. Spider-Man 3 almost made $900 million in 2007. There were a bunch of superhero movies made in the 2000s.

And this continued into the 2010s, where superhero movies reached their peak. The Avengers didn't start the superhero craze but was the first major superhero crossover movie (which was a huge accomplishment). That made DC want to do crossovers of their own (Batman v Superman and Justice League).

OK, and? A Spider-Man movie wasn't guaranteed to be a hit in 2002. The 2000s were the start of the superhero movie craze.

The Avengers (2012) did NOT start the superhero movie craze. Without preceding superhero movies, the Avengers wouldn't have made a billion.

YES IT WOULD HAVE ...

PPL WERE UNSURE ABOUT
CAP/IRONMAN AND THIS UNIVERSE
THEY WERE BUILDING IN REAL TIME
BECAUSE THEY WERE ALWAYS
A TIER BELOW THE XMEN/SPIDEY
BUT MARVEL SOLD THE RIGHTS
TO THEIR TOP CHARACTERS.

ONCE THE EARLY MCU MOVIES
WERE RECIEVED WELL IT SET UP
THE AVENGERS DOING A BILLION
NOT 2003 DARE DEVIL
NOR FOX FANTASTIC FOUR,
NOR RYAN REYNOLDS GREEN LATERN.

YOU DONT SEEM TO KNOW
WHAT A BOOM MEANS.

THE AVERAGE COMIC BOOK MOVIE
WENT FROM DOING 200-300MS
TO 700M-1BILLY AFTER
THE AVENGERS

The 2000s were the beginning of the superhero movie craze, and the 2010s were the peak. Really simple stuff to understand, and yet you can't lol.

Anyway, I'm not doing any more back and forth on this topic because obviously we don't agree. So I'll leave it at that.

Most of those movies weren't received that well. 'Iron Man' was and they rode that with the team up event to big box office success. A team up film had never been done with comic books before to that level.

It's almost always sequels/team ups that do the best business for comic books. There are a few exceptions and a major character like Batman can have a breakout film at any time but it is mostly sequels and team ups especially now...

We'll never see anything like the Infiniti Saga again.

With that being said, Doomsday and Secret Wars will probably do a billion, but Disney better not have the same expectations outside of that for their remaining MCU properties. First MCU X-Men might do that as well if good.

Yeah, 'Doomsday' will be fine. They'll run a nostalgia playbook for that one, bring in whoever they can for cameos and Downey Jr. is the draw.

'X-Men' is going to be interesting. People have long awaited to see how they'd look in the MCU. Who they pick to be in the team will be intriguing as well. Will the lineup be a classic lineup or will they do the 80s/90s lineup?

MCU gotta just go with the Euphoria (preferably college and not HS) route and make the X men have actual grounded relationships

Give us the DRAMA
