Superman is not making a billion dollars.

Enough posters have already mentioned that the last few Superman movies didn't gross a billion. There's also the current climate. Some of y'all gotta get your minds out of 2017 nikkas are not going to the movies like that anymore

So Captain America is a household name right? Why did it make $400M in it's last outing? :manny: The cope is real on here....

It shouldn't matter that it wasn't Chris Evans because goofies just told me that the cast doesn't matter for a household name.

'Batman Begins' was critically acclaimed and had Nolan directing. It made $375M at the box office. Total. The first or second most popular hero in the world and it made only $375M not because it was a bad movie either... but because it was new and there were a million Batman movies that came before it

BATMAN FRANCHISE WAS DEAD
IN THE WATER AFTER "BATMAN & ROBIN"

PPL WERE SKEPTICAL GOING
INTO BATMAN BEGINS AND
THERE WASNT A LOT OF HYPE AROUND IT.

CAPTAIN AMERICA IS NOT
SUPERMAN AND WAS ALWAYS B TIER MARVEL.
ADD THE FACT THAT ITS A SAM WILSON
CAP.

This is the same exact situation with this 'Superman' you just proved my point. You're trying to say it has hype behind it because of some commercial tie-ins? They didn't spend an inordinate amount on this. 'The Wrap' already said the budget is $220M and the breakeven point is a little over $500M

That's pretty low for a hero of this stature.

Maybe in online discourse but in the real world the Hollywood trades already put out articles on what the budget is. That $874M from 'Batman/Superman' is a good number but perceived as a failure by the studio and the last time we actually saw 'Superman' was in that disaster Joss Whedon 'Justice League' movie that everyone hated. That's the general audience. Only the diehards watched Snyder's product.

Batman v Superman only making $874 million was definitely a disappointment for WB.

*It was the first time ever that Batman & Superman would be on-screen together in live-action.

*Batman and Superman are two of the most iconic superheroes of all time.

*Captain America: Civil War, which came out 2 months later and starred Iron Man and Captain America, made over a billion. Though to be fair, that was during the peak of the MCU and was a pseudo-Avengers movie.

THEY DID CONTINUE THAT UNIVERSE.

THE BLACK ADAM FLOP
IS WHAT MADE THEM CHANGE COURSE

Nope. The DCEU was dead by 2021. WB was looking to change course.

WB hired Gunn to head DC Studios around the time Black Adam came out, and WB had been looking to hire Gunn for years.
