Kidder never had chemistry with reeve.

She was fukkin insufferable.
Plus an ol school white is right archetype. That was unattractive in every possible way. As well as why superman has to be relaunched in print to silver screen. As that archetype and her buttaface appearance. .drive superman into being a non draw.
Margot kidder is kryptonite. Plus a no no in comics. That gives rhe other company a leg up advantage. As rhe flagship love interest is trash in every possible way. From being physically the embodiment of olive oyl and unattractive. To having a trash undermine the hero personality. That eventually moves superman into being a non draw.

Mos actually fixed this dynamic.

When people hate lois lane and especially hate kidder's love interest portrayal for a top tier the hero.

Evident by superman becoming a non draw from silver screen to print.

I actually liked this Superman movie.

At first, I thought Cornsweet was a miscast and the tone would be goofy, but seeing Krypto in the trailer sold me.

Some parts of the film feel like a sequel to a movie that doesn’t exist, and Krypto’s CGI is a little uncanny in spots, but overall the action, acting, and pacing are solid. Maybe it would have been better if they had used a real dog when possible.

There was some political allegory in here that Captain America Brave New World was afraid to do but it didn't take over the story. Some will be mad about certain themes lol.

The story moves fast and doesn’t drag you down with too much universe-building, but there are definitely some cool ideas that could spin off from here.

this lois is a major downgrade to the man of steel lois. As mos lois actually portrayed on screen. why supes had popeye loves olive oyl simp stop everything for lois energy. This version goes back to that old margot kidder trope. Of an ugly ass white woman being the cats meow. Only because she is white. That was a regression. Plus hurt this film. If not for gun understsnding suoes has to be vulnerable. Built behind the ultraman clone trope. To humanize supes. Lois being ugly as fukk. Plus fukkin insufferable, contentious and trash in every possible way. Being force fed on us. Would drop this movie. To the same level of declining dislike of the original suoerman sequels. gun uses just enough slight of hand. To squeak past rhis old superman contrnt trope like pitfall. That rhe cadtoon and mos actually got right. By one making lois attractive. As well as showing lois being supremely down for clark from jump. This lois harkens back to superman og sequels of being insufferrable. That it opens back up the a can of worms. That eventually could make superman unlikeable like rhe past. That superman was wrongly killed in print. Then eventually ruining the subsequent film universe in adaptation by proxy and errant cobtent decisions. Similar to marvel redoing rhe mistakes of byrne on west coast avengers with scsrlett witch. Coupled with bryne failing to relaunch superman as well. Leading to han solo. I got a bad feeling about this. Levels of discontent. That ruined star wars, the mcu and every past dc film endeavor that included supes

I think this is a solid 7, its a nice summer popcorn flick but this aint a top 10 comic book movie. I'd be in for a sequel depending on villain (Braniac ).
I think this universe could do him justice.

Thoughts as I watched:

Pros:

• Supes gave a solid performance, I saw much more of the boy scout in his personality.
• Jumping into an already setup universe was a great choice
• Mr. Terrific was a great addition, he def added some personality without being over the top goofy
• Lex was solid, he def got better as the film went on
• This Lois is a major upgrade over Amy Adams
• The Engineer had a dope on screen powerset

Cons:

• Krypto was fukking annoying
• 2nd Act was boring af
• They showed too much in the trailers
• They could've toned down the country bumpkin on Pa & Ma Kent just a bit
• Fight scenes were a bit meh
• Green Lantern was all around trash, costume was terrible, (and im glad lois got on his haircut, nasty work)

Do i like MOS better, yes (better lore and action) but I think this is a good foundation moving forward

agreed with everything here. I did like Krypto at first. but then he started becoming a little too much of a cheat code towards the end

But you summed it up perfectly. It's a fun summer movie that's good enough to serve as a foundation for this new universe moving forward. Would love to see what he could do with the Flash for example

This lois in no way emulates the lois from the cartoons. Past she piloted the ship of your beloved mister terrific. That harken back to why john bryne failed relaunching superman. Then ruin all of marvel in west coast avengers.

The problem with dc is their johnny come lately fanbase. That fails to dig in the crate. To think dc is being judged.

This wasn't a bad Lois, it's a draw for me and Amy Adams. Kate Bosworth and Kidder were awful Lois Lanes....

Just got back from watching,theatre wasnt full at all smh. It was with much regret that i announce Im jumping from the sinking MCU ship to the emerging yacht that is the DCEU. Clinging to the cape of THEE hero of all heros Kal-Malcolm Luther-El. Who the DC universe always had to start and end with



Easily the GOAT superman film ever. Get that Christopher Reeves nostalgic nonsense outta here#RIP.


Gunn has done it again. The actor playing Superman nailed it. The metahumans who i tbought would be too much in one movie killed it. The woman who i thought might be the deathblow like she was to the last Superman franchise didnt take away from the movie at all. I cant think of a single weakness really. If i had to reach for something I would say Crypto spamming. But the toy sales from Krypto will ensure a sequel. We about to sell half a billion in Krypto toys and dog capes.


MCU you were a wonderful replacement until Yayo came home. Nobody can take that away from you. But the king is back and Gunn dont miss



Gunn might as well sit down and write the Batman script next. If your ready for a Batman not grounded in realism. Who doesnt wear flying squirrel capes. Who doesnt run from the grind by buying adamantium suits that require zero actual skill. Stay tuned for the Gunnaverse
