What's good everyone? I created a group Black ATX Tactical last year and it's been gaining a lot of momentum.

I started this group on Facebook initially designed as a safe space for Black gun owners to gain information about firearms and find resources to help them through their self-defense journey. I didn't think anything of me making a little FB group but now we got over 1000 members strong and I'm trying to get more folks to help!

Coming from a martial arts background I like to immerse myself in anything self defense. A lot of my family come from a LEO/Military background but I didn't start shooting until a friend of mine got me into a few years ago and asked me why don't I own one.

While I know that firearms evoke polarizing feelings for many wherever you stand on the political spectrum I feel that people should at LEAST be educated on what they do and their capabilities then decide for themselves on their place in the world.

With all that's going on in the world now I wanted to take the time to get some training in for myself and want to try and encourage others to do the same.

Being a Black male I feel that being in this community I get questions from all sides about why I should own one. As a result I created Black ATX Tactical to provide education/training for us and help to redefine Black Gun Ownership.

I think I'm doing a service to Black folks, regardless of their gender, sexual orientation, or identity so I'd urge y'all to help me support in this!

if you buy a gun from a store, you have to fill out a form that asks you for your race and the answer you give is sent to the fbi at the time of your purchase. there's another question that asks about your ethnicity, but the only options are hispanic or not hispanic. this form is kept by the store for a minimum of 20 years and sent to the atf if they go out of business. it's illegal for the fbi to store this info and it's illegal for the atf to computerize these records or make a database from them, but i wouldn't be surprised if they are. so if you're concerned about being profiled, buy a gun in a private sale but this might not be an option in your state if they require background checks, and if it is an option be prepared for some
