The NFL is a "what have you done for me lately?" league though. It's hard to argue that the league MVP isn't the best QB right now. If you're voting for the hall of fame or something, then you have a point

Carson Palmer had an MVP year is he one of the best qb's in the league?

Aaron Rodgers had 38 td's and 8 int's this past year and in his prime hrs the best until proven otherwise

I remember all that. But his play has clearly proved all those people wrong. Are there really people out there who still question if this dude can play now? I thought we were talking about people criticizing his TD celebrations and shyt. Maybe I just don't pay close enough attention to the same stuff you guys are. When he was drafted, people were definitely on that bs though I remember that
The amazing thing about those articles and statements is the ripple effect it has on white sports fans. Can you imagine the comments sections in those articles?

Can you imagine the years it took for it to go away? Guess what? It wasn't our imagination. It was there....and your eyes chose to remain closed.

It's not an "eyes closed" thing.. It's a "I thought that was considered old shyt and we were talking about new shyt like dabbing after TDs" thing. If we're talking about articles from when he was drafted questioning his love for the game or whatever, then okay yes I remember that

It wasn't the same type of criticism at all.

Cam gets criticism for the showmanship aspect, Ruseel got criticism for his actual performance.

The problem with this question is people treat in an absolute fashion, as if he ONLY gets criticized for race or ONLY gets criticized for the showmanship.

Truth is, it's a mix of both.

Ofay...you deep in the Red for a reason...underdog you know what to do...

In other words, most black fans (62%) believe Newton's criticism is because of his race. Most cacs think opposite. Sounds about right.

Does Russel Wilson get the same criticism though?

No, but then cacs like when blacks are meek and quiet, versus when blacks are otherwise confident and unabashed. When it comes white people, cacs prefer both showboaters (i.e. McGregor) and quiet guys (i.e. Peyton).

Race is definitely the reason why many cacs don't like Newton.

Travis Kelce dabs and dances similar to Newton but cacs never have an ill word to say about him. When Newton does the same and he is deluged with letters and tacit dismissal by cacs who "don't like his style".

If you go on football forums or read article comments, you can see some racial animosity from the posters whenever Newton's dancing or antics are brought up. The letters Cam gets for whath e does is a proxy for the number of people who dislike him. When you then bring up non-black QBs or players that celebrate to these people, there is a disquieting silence or slanted rationalization.

I think his shyt is over the top and annoying to watch and has zero to do with what color he is. ...but I hate when almost any player does any dancing, digging a grave, crotch grab, put on the belt, guns in the holster bullshyt.

fukking JJ Watt doing anything. fukking William Gay crawling around on his got damn Knees. TO running out the mid field. Aaron Rodgers with that got damn belt. Hate that shyt.

Nameth was far more criticized than Newton for not conducting himself as a professional.

All the polls in the world won't hide the fact that it's because he's black, period.
