Blocking Muslims entirely from entering the country may only further radicalize the Muslims that currently live within the country. That won't stop the problem of terrorism it'll exasperate it.

Once it becomes okay to block a specific group of people, it becomes easier to block the next group you don't like, and then start kicking people out because they're different than you. None of it will end up well.

The issues of the Middle East and even Al Qaeda/ISIS specifically go back much, much farther than 2003 and Iraq. The US specifically has been intervening in ME affairs since WWII, including overthrowing the democratically elected governments of Syria and Iraq in the 40s/50s. Of course, the formation and support of Israel has always been an issue as well. Spreading out to include "The West" and not just the US, this conflict has been going on for centuries.

Why England (and I guess the west generally) accepts any Muslims at all is beyond me. As far as I can tell, they are more trouble than they're worth. What could they add to English society that makes up for the government spending, social disruption, and the occasional terrorist attack ?

I'm not sure why #1 is a reason to let Muslims in to your country.

About #2, that doesn't explain why it had to be Muslims. England is a great country. I'm sure it appeals to other Christian Europeans and Christian Asians. Also, why do "labor shortages" have to result in more immigrants at all? Are countries' populations supposed to grow indefinitely? I thought there were too many people already? Economic growth cannot be the only consideration when leading a country.

You have the right who use this as their reasons to get rid of all Muslims then the left has to answer by almost ignoring these attacks or being more worried about islamaphobia then people being killed so they almost act like their is no threat at all and nothing to see here.

Is it too much to ask for just reasonable fukkin thinking instead of straight party lines and have both sides come together to try to figure this sh1t out?

The left is already giving reasonable solutions.

Fix the foreign policy, stop antagonizing the region and overthrowing/undermining governments, stop funding two of the leading terrorist states (Saudi Arabia, Israel). Work to prosecute international terrorists and erode the base of support for terrorism through cooperation and development.

Many of the people in the regions who were displaced due to British Colonialism were muslim.

After the war, the British decided to call upon members of the commonwealth to help rebuild the country, and given that a third of the Empire were muslim, it makes sense that there would be a sizeable number of them in Britain.

John Kerry is making really good points on Meet The Press, the exact opposite of Theresa May and Trump's hard line approach. All of the western cities hit hardest by terrorism, all have in common large groups of Muslims living in poverty, and a large disconnect between government/society/ and these disenfranchised groups.

And then, having proven the that the US does what it must to keep us safe, I'm thinking we do the same to all those crime prone blacks living here.
