You made the argument that being a GOTY nominee guarantees it’s status as a game that would drive system sales.

I disagreed with that

No my argument was it sold fast out the gate and was the fastest selling home console at launch 6-7 months ago with no supply issues so the people that wanted it were able to get it upfront. As a result of that later in the year sales slowed up in comparison to the Switch.

The Switch 2 clearly has notable software.

But this coming year should be a lot more robust.

They need some solid Directs soon because there isn’t much that’s officially coming out that I’ve seen. I keep seeing “we know we’re getting ____” but there hasn’t been word from Nintendo.

I’ve read and heard they’re putting out a 3D Mario this year, but the Odyssey team worked on DK, so you can’t confidently say a new 3D Mario is coming out this yr. Definitely won’t be a new 3D Zelda this soon. The only massive AAA property you know is coming, that’ll move consoles is Pokemon because Pokemon is always around the corner. You could also add Duskbloods because it’s From, but it’s such a different concept from their usual game, no telling how that’ll perform.

Not to say they can’t put out other killer apps, but they gotta announce them soon. Backwards compatibility and Switch 1 upgrades will only go so far

I don't let my son play those yet because I don't want him talking to a bunch of people and getting hooked on microtransactions. Switch parental controls are great and much easier to work with than Sonys even though they just released a new app. If Sony made a handheld I'd cop immediately and get him out of that ecosystem.

DK: Bananza - GotY Nominee with very unique gameplay
Hades 2 - Action Game of the Year, GotY Nominee and console exclusive

Runs Cyberpunk better than a Steamdeck and Silksong (another GotY nominee) at 120fps handheld
Console "flopped" so hard they already have lifetime sales hard posted on the website cuz it's literally the fastest selling in history

Bro I am playing Hades 2 on my regular switch….

Personally I think they put it out like they did out of tariff fears and if shyt was normal they would have announced a push back for it to drop with more exclusive games probably winter 2026. I think in 2 years sales will pick up once they’ve built up the library.

A winter with a switch 2 and GTA6 drop would have people basically buying both items as the go to Christmas gifts. Last year was a bad environment to drop a console.
