It was a USA regime change operation from the jump, just like Libya, only difference was Asaad said he ain't going out like Gaddafi and went all out. Then Russia hopped in.

I have been pretty skeptical of Western intervention on Syria but Assad fukked up badly by cracking down on the peaceful protesters brutally.
The CIA and intelligence agencies of the Gulf States then stepped in with an opportunity to overthrow Assad
