This isn't how it works. Streaming nets a lot more for the label than the artist, and recoup calculations are based on that. She's already plat due to the singles and will likely end up going 2-3 plat when all is said and done. The label recouped on her last album and will do so on this one, so she's good. She'll make her money on tour (much of which will likely go to the label too).

Question at this point is how many albums can they get out of her. She claims this is her last one, I'd imagine she owes RCA at least three more (prob only owes TDE two more). Can they get her on an "album every two years" schedule like these other chicks? I doubt it.
regardless of how it supposedly works, the job of the label is to keep artists in the red. That goes for 30 years ago, 10 years ago, and now. Even though it's costing less and less to record and promote albums, the labels are going to make their money back regardless. They got to make sure that you don't "recoup" to the point as an artist must sell back the little rights and publishing you have involved in these 360 deals. Wasn't she having problems with her label years ago?

I think it's a dope album, but I don't think it was streamed 45 million times last week. (That is the equivalent of 300k sales.) Maybe it did, but it just sounds like a lot for Sza. She's famous, but I didn't know she was popular like that.

SZA's like Badu for black women who came of age in the 2010s in the sense that when CTRL came out it came with a pre-packaged personality. SZA also comes with the added benefit of them not having to go through the effort of dressing a certain way and doing extra shyt in order to have an "aesthetic" all they have to do is be shameless hoes. I was 20 when CTRL dropped and all the headwraps on campus disappeared in a week. She's huge, then she also got white women on her side too, and she kept them waiting years for a release it's a perfect storm.

Where’s Sza “I don’t wanna do anything”?
Her “you bring me joy”?
Her “Mary’s Joint”?
Not knocking her but let’s be real not too many nikkas playing I Hate you in their car
