When my dad passed my mom assumed the role of father. That didn't go over well with my eldest brother, who is extremely independent, masculine, & self-driven. He's of the mentality that no woman would rule him. He is a leader and my other brothers wanted to move like him. My mom is a force to be reckoned with and my brothers succumbed to the rules under her roof. They moved out the day they graduated HS. They also had children, within the confines of marriage, later on.
There's another variable to why I don't want kids - I never met anyone who I wanted to be married to/procreate with.
