I dont even know if this is a diss or compliment and to who

Anything NY or LA is overhyped and things not from there are marginalized until they are overwhelming simply because those are the largest media markets. It’s extremely obvious to anyone not from those two markets.

This is a diss to 50 and a compliment to Nelly that he was able to overcome this dynamic in a place like St. Louis.

Nelly's first three sold more than 50s and he might have more hit singles

So is that saying that 50 would be diamond twice if he was from the Midwest or is he saying that if Nelly was from NY he would be doing 2x diamond :wtf:

Jokes aside the statement is very incorrect, Nelly was almost solely a hit maker. 50s buzz or reign was equally characterized by his street anthems, mixtapes, outside the booth persona and all that.

Nah breh, 50 was essentially a hit maker too, and was bolstered by his persona. 4

Nah, people knew every bar to every 50 song back in his prime. With Nelly we only knew the hits.
If 50 had an interview, everyone tuned in and discussed it. Not really the same for Nelly even though he was a bigger artist in terms of album sales in the us

Where are you from?? This could be a regional thing.
Let's say east coast :to:
But that's irrelevant, I don't know a single person who knows even the names of more than half the songs on any Nelly album. I was probably the biggest Nelly fans in my circle in 2000, but I can't say that I remember even 1/4th of the tracks on Nellyville and half of the tracks on country grammar.

TIP talmbout lets keep it real like that 50-Nelly analogy had just popped up in his head. That fool been sitting on that the past couple days:mjlol:

..but my thing is, why do these cats from other regions (artist and fans alike) have such an inferiority complex when it comes to NY. Them dudes birthed hip hop, why would they not show favoritism to their own? These fools be expecting everything to be all equal and just when that’s just not reality.

“Nepotism” isn’t inherently bad. These dudes from these other regions gotta understand that they will never be the 1st born son like a NY artist would be perceived up there, and nikkas from everywhere else are just stepchildren. No matter how much of a degenerate that 1st born may turn out to be and no matter how outstanding the stepchild ends up, it’s just a different level of affection that father gone have for his own.

Is wat it is :yeshrug:
