Are people forgeting Hov just dropped a platinum selling album with Magna Carter, yet people still want to claim Kendrick the KONY? FOH, this doesn't make any sense.
probably because gkmc is widely considered as one of the very best albums in recent memory while magna carta is widely considered as an average/above average album.

as TI said, it is based on success AND skill.
Jay-Z was the man, but he is nothing right now with that garbage album.

people consider kendrick as the king of hip hop right now because gkmc hasn't been topped yet (according to a consensus)

It's also not touching a lot people's favorite Jay-Z or Nas albums so what objective criteria are we using here

He said nobody in NYC is getting more play than K. Dot...which might be true...but if we're using who's getting play as a criteria than Drake is the King Of Everywhere, Atlanta included.....

He also implied that skill is the criteria...if that's the case he may be the King Of New York...but he also might be the King Of Atlanta too because who out there is making a GKMC-level project?

Or maybe he saying it has to be a mix of both...well, same thing applies. If he can be called the King of one city he wasn't born in based on that criteria than why not another? Unless you can name someone from Atlanta who better fits the criteria than Kendrick, than crown him.

My whole stance in this thread is rhetorical because I doubt Tip would be fine with that level of disrespect to his city, and that's ultimately what this is about...

LMAO...You're wayyyy off base, breh. NOBODY gets more play on ATL radio than ATL ARTISTS. Migos/Rich Homie Quan >> Kendrick/Drake when it comes to ATL radio play.

U thinkin out loud like T.I was thinkin out loud,u gotta cut em sum slack:pachaha:...I think we agree it took some balls and was just sum cool slick shyt to say:obama:

"Me & 50 share Queens I'm that thorough/ but I'm not content yet, I want another nikka borough!"-Stack Bundles:ohlawd:

I'm not even sayin its impossible either,it is ridiculous to be taken seriously mostly bcuz I'm pretty sure dude was fukin around and Kurupt, well Kurupt might actually believe it when he said it:salute:....T.I said he was king of the entire south and people had problems....but plenty of people said :manny:,and felt like it was true.....and T.I certainly had more competetion skill wise and success wise in other states in the the south as far as being king of Texas,Louisiana,FL than Kendrick would have in NY I would think?if Kendrick said he was king of the north would people have felt better? He simply skipped the irrelevent midwestern hiphop states and left out the ones he might get shot at or killed over sum petty dumb shyt like this like Chicago or Detroit:pachaha:

The more I think outloud like t.I I'm starting to see sum substance in his argument:ohhh:...t.I got away with it so I understand why he sees it this way
He left out the cities he thought would come for his head. That's my point. That's literally why I'm in this thread. If he said he was the King Of Chicago we wouldn't even be having this discussion. And TI wouldn't be defending it...everyone would tread lightly. Word to Heisenberg.

I've never seen a city disrespected like this. I can't believe New York is letting this fly. It's surreal.

I wasn't aware radio play was the sole criteria, because you're the only person I've seen in this thread mention it.

Jay-Z gets more radio play in NYC than Kendrick Lamar.

GKMC was a great album, but I think Nas topped him with Life is Good. IMO, that was the album of the year. If we're basing it off of skill & success, their is NO WAY you leave Hov & Nas out that argument. And if people want to say that Kendrick is the King of Hip Hop, then that means he's the king of all regions, and I'm quite sure Clifford Harris would not cosign that.

way more people think that gkmc > lig. More acclaimed, it got voted as the album of the year by the users of almost every (hip hop) magazine and I have to admit that even if Nas is my favorite rapper of all time, I also think that gkmc was objectively the better album.
so yes, even if your opinion is different, gkmc is widely considered as the better album by the hip hop industry,

I love the 2 albums tbh

If I didn't know better, I would think you guys were struggling to name an Atlanta artist making better music than Kendrick Lamar
better music is subjective, but if you think kendrick even has a top 5 buzz in atl you are retarded.

there is a long list of rappers who ppl in the atl fukk with more then kendrick

be realistic nikka

Kendrick > Tip, Future and the rest of Atlanta in terms of the combination of skills and success.

Using TI's logic, Kendrick is the King Of Atlanta

I don't know the type of AirPlay he gets in ny but Kendrick does not get more radio play than Atlanta artist here. U will hear future or tity boi, rich homie quan, migos more than Kendrick even tho he gets play here its not like that's all u hear. Atlanta djs always support the artist here.
