You need to itemize everything that you are spending money on. You need to put your weekly budget on paper and see where it's going.

Don't eat out all the time, I know cats that spend 400-500 a month eating out that's around 5-6k a year.
Don't go to the clubs, drink with your girl/friends at home and play your own music.
If you smoke quit.
Learn to at least shape yourself up.
Put 3% of your earnings into a savings account.

Yes and no.

If you with a woman who is about her shyt then its a partnership. My girl and I alternate if we go out to eat. But we are cooking more now so thats even more savings because she's putting in bread on groceries.

That would be cool to meet a chick like that, most of the chicks I'm with will bring a brother down fast if you let them.

whatever u do, never EVER EVER EVER in your life hand over your money to another human being to keep. that's what banks are for.

Depending on the situation that is false.

You can still access your own money in the bank. However IF there is someone in life (as I have) who you trust especially with money then why not?

My mom and step dad are extremely well off, my step dad especially and he has made his wealth based on strategy and saving so I absolutely have and will trust him with my money because #1 he has 10 times the money I have so my little change isn't even desirable and #2 He won't give in to me if I start whining or crying broke.

Like I said it only works if you have someone you can trust.

yeah if u have someone u can trust. but also imagine the scenario of the person u gave ur money to dropping dead. how do u get access to your money? think about it.

it's still risky unless u already think of this type of situation ahead of time and have documents signed that'll make it easy for u to access ur money should the person u gave it to becomes incapacitated.

I cant seem to save money even when i try i spend all of my check right before i get the next one( i get paid weekly)
i get paid every Friday. i have 2 checking accounts. one for travel and one for everything else.

every week when i get payed i transfer $150 to my Travel account. I pay bills immediately with the other account and the rest is my play money.
for me the priority is having money to travel. if you want to just build a reserve then use it for that.

you must A. decide what your going to stack B. transfer the money before you spend a dime.

I cut my own hair. been doing that for over 10 years. I drink at home. I also have a budget in excel that I always adhere to as well as spreadsheets itemizing all my spending in my two checking accounts.

yup i get you, but what you don't understand is im obsessed with saving money..i take out money just to save it...it's an addiction real talk..lol even my women at the house have a job, u find any change laying around, throw it in the money jar and if you got any singles, throw em in the money box..we all get in on it and at the end of the year we treat ourselves with either a vacation or gifts...I make enough $ where I have atleast $300 extra a paycheck that is for whatever and thats after I've put my $100-$200 into my savings bank account...

saving to me is just a hobby..

Thought I was the only one. I get a kick outta making myself "work" with what I have (after saving, of course). To go into a payday with, at times, half of your incoming check already in the account is a:wow:feeling. And then to move your regimented amount from the payday plus what was in there already is a:noah:moment.

Personally, I do the following to save on an ongoing basis:

1. Pack lunch 4x/ week. Treat myself at least once during the week.
2. I'm lucky to have the ability to telework, once a week; cuts down on my transit (subway) which is $6.10/day; this also cuts down my gas purchases for the month
3. I busy myself to limit my idle hands (i.e. gym- $20/month); Rather spend $20/month vs. $200/month try to ball out of control
4. With apps like Wallapop, OfferUp, Craigslist, etc., I sell items around the house and have been pretty successful with it.
5. I love Chucks esp rare Chucks. If I find a pair, I think long and hard (pause) about it. If I go back to buy and they are not there, I move on to buy NOTHING. This logic applies to any "want" I may have.
6. I only have credit cards that provide an incentive (i.e. points, POS discount, etc.) and PAY IN FULL at the end of every month.
7. I often checked my online accounts to make all is in place. As I see that savings grow, I make a goal to get to, for example, "save $800 by next month" annd follow through.
8. Cut my own hair. Sheeeiiit, I'm bald so ain't no need for weekly visits to a barber.

I have plenty others that I can't think of at the moment but, as my wife would tell you, I am very cognizant of my funds and don't waste any of it on temporary things. I invest in experiences vs. items.
