some sound, simple financial advice in here, but in terms of everyday life?
- Cook more: I saw an immediate impact when I was spending $100 on groceries for a month as opposed to $40+ on ONE MEAL. Seriously, its a big deal.
- Cuttin out cable and finding out how much internet you actually need: I'm considered a "power user" by most standards, but paying for internet bandwidth that you aren't going to use is silly. No point in having a 50mbps connection for one person who's at home a total of 9 hours a day. Also, get rid of cable altogether there are almost no packages worth it under $100 a month. While netflix + Sling TV keeps you under $60 a month if im not mistaken.
- Cut back on vices: Squares and Liquor in particular are expensive as fukk. I remember my sister calculated how much my dad spent in Newports a year and that caused him to scale back significantly. Same with drinking, because I know some of you prolly aren't drinking garbage, that adds up FAST. I had to chill on the craft beers myself...fukking $10 a 6-pack is a lot of cheddar once you add it all up.
- Stay out of the fukking club/bar: This kinda goes hand in hand with the previous one...but the mark up on EVERYTHING in clubs is sometimes upwards of 200%. Bars less so but its still way too much for the most part. Get onto your social apps, check your alternative publications in your city for outings. I know for here in Detroit, there is a fukk ton of FREE events that usually go on, especially in the summer months. And many of them have free food/drinks. Stop feeling bad about free shyt.
- Shop looks, not names: Outside of shoes, suits and certain other pieces, there is really no reason to be spending copious amounts of money on clothes. Jordan's and shyt are some of the WORST investments a person can make.
More long term....
- Start a IRA asap: If you have a job with no 401k set up then you need to be putting away money for retirement on your own.
