"Nah he got at Nas on some more fact based shyt....i used your own words and you didn't even get paid off it. you weren't really about that street life, you just watched other ppl actually do it and tried to pass it off as your own experiences....you got outrapped on a song by your bodyguard and your weed carriers."

"I used your words and you didnt even get paid off it"
he stalked nas and used the sample because Nas didnt fukk with him

"you werent really about that street life"
Jay-z is dressed like Donkey Kong on Jaz-O album cover and getting flown around a beach in Hawaiian Sophie

"you watched what other people do and tried to pass it off as other people's experiences"
:mjlol: from big daddy kane, to Jaz, to Fu-shnickens, to State Property, Chris and Kneef, Amil, Kanye, Jay Electronica...the list goes on.

"you got outrapped on a song by your bodyguard and weed carriers"
on a song nobody cares about or listens to :hhh: realistically aint that shyt on THEIR album :snoop:

I love Jay but lets be real here, most of that shyt applies directly to his life. Nas has always been just chilling since he was 16. Jay straight up stalked Carmen and asked her how Nas' dikk was :bryan:People used to diss Nas for decades for not chasing the bag, that dude was always chilling just putting songs out. Pac called him the ringleader and even Biggie was intimidated by him. Nas wasnt really ever doing shyt.

That's the problem with casual rap fans...they don't understand how Nas broke Jay down on Ether. He was literally responding to so much, that's why it hurt Jay on a personal level. Ether broke down the coke rapper.

Jay - You nikkas gonna learn to respect the king
Nas Response - Burner at the side of your dome, come outta my throne

Jay - "Who's the best MCs, Biggie, Jay-Z or Nas
Nas Response - Whose the best, Pac, Nas & Big...ain't no best

Jay - Had a spark when you started but now you're just garbage
Nas Response - How can Nas be garbage? Semi-autos at your cartilage

Jay - If I ain't better than big, than I'm the closest one
Nas Response - First Biggie's your man, then you got the nerve to say you better than Big

Jay - There's only one rule, I will not lose
Nas Response - God's Son across the belly, I proved you lost already

Jay - That's why you're LAAAAAAAAME! Career's come to and end
Nas Response - I've been fukked over, left for dead, dissed and forgotten

Jay - I know you're missing all the FAAAAAAAAAME
Nas Response - What's sad is I love you cause you're my brother, you traded your soul for riches

Jay - That means I fly rough early plus I know tae bo
Jay - nikka switch up your flow, your shyt is garbage, but you try and kick knowledge
Nas Response - You Tae-bo hoe, trying to work it out, you tryna' get brolic? Ask me if I'm trying to kick knowledge

Jay - Used to tell they friends I was ugly and wouldn't touch me
Nas Response - What you think, you getting girls now 'cause of your looks?

Jay - We bring knife to a fist fight and kill your drama
Nas - And your man stabbed Un and made you take the blame

Nah

Real Muthafukkin Gz >>>> Ether

Nizz

I'm being objective...RMG is a classic but the world stopped when Ether dropped...I'll never forget the look on ppl's faces...I'll never forget the impact...Ether made Stan a derogatory term, ether became apart of the hip hop lexicon

That was a helluva time in hip hop

I think that’s a fair diss at Nas that he didn’t counter but having said that..

With Nas what really could you expect Nas to have done except some low level dealing and robbing considering he’d made it as a rapper at 18 near enough. I always find it a strange thing to diss Nas about. He was a star at 16. You think Jay would have been dealing if he made it in the late 80s rather than when he was near enough 30

Nas was just that good at rapping he never had to risk everything moving drugs. Like Jay, Mega and others who dissed him about not being in the streets, when if they were the golden child like Nas they wouldn’t have had to either

Nas didn't have to address that...it's already documented he was at war in Queensbridge before he was signed, and that's why Ill Will died

Nas speaking on it could have indicted several people from his projects including his brother who was the muscle.

Nas left it for others to speak about his history in qb. Just like it was rumors going around that 2pac checked Nas when they met and Snoop refuted that.

Schooling people takes forever; don't bother
I remember reading this...

Jay went at Nas on Takeover based on Jay's perception of how Nas write bars (logic, facts)....

Nas went at Jay on Ether based on Nas' perception of how Jay write bars (schoolyard teasing, popularity contest)...

Nas and Jay peeped each other's styles and each one wrote diss tracks catered to the other person's fanbase to diss them based on how their own fans would react -- it was straight chess moves....

When you write diss songs, you don't necessarily cater to how your own fan base thinks because they already like you; instead, you care to write diss songs based on how your opponent's fanbase would think, and if they would turn on their own idol to respect the person who wrote the diss song...Nas wrote self righteous facts in songs so Jay went at Nas with Nas' style...Jay wrote self indulgence boasting in songs so Nas went at Jay attacking Jay's own character

This shyt isn't new...MC Shan VS BDP and all the prior diss tracks been doing this...you write diss songs to jack your opponent's style just to say that you mastered it and that you can beat him at his own craft -- I am going to rhyme based on how you write bars and beat you with your style -- that is Game, Set, and Match right there

All the superficial listeners who argue that Jay went at Nas with 'facts' and Nas went at Jay with 'teasing' don't understand the tradition and lineage of how diss tracks are crafted

The Takeover was killing it, and IMO better than Ether. But Nas held his own, and the debate could go either way

This Beef was cool as fukk, with the subliminal shyt leading up to it...

In hindsight I don't like Supa Ugly...
