Tales of Xillia

I like this one better than the first, the made all the main characters more likeable than the first. I'm on my second play though to level up for the extra dungeon and it's becoming a chore too play. Probably my less favorite replay of a tales game.

Xillia 2 is such a misleading game because 80% of it is typical tales then it takes a pretty dark turn at the tail end. The ending of chapters 12 and 15 in particular and the boss on chapter 12 is brutal. That one is among the hardest in the series. The boss killed my party so fast I thought it was one of those battles you were required to lose and then the game over screen came up and I was dumbfounded. I ended up letting the boss kill 3 of my 4 party members and left them dead and kept Ludger and an occasional healer alive at times. Messed up part is you have to fight that boss with a mandatory party and two of the characters were pretty weak IMO.

Victor was a cheap fakkit. Charge attack 3 was the only thing that allowed me to win that fight.

Probably the hardest boss in a tales game for me outside of Duke's final form

I just finished Chapter 11 and beating Rideaux was hard enough as it. Yall got me kind of shook now.

That whole debt system is just a way of stopping you from plowing through the game very fast. I never fully repaid it. After you get to the last few chapters in the game it really doesn't matter anymore anyway unless you just want to pay it off. Paying off the full amount is optional.

I didn't really find Victor to be THAT bad...I beat him on my second try.

He does have some overpowered attacks, but as long as you're fully stocked on healing/reviving items, have auto-item setup smartly, put Jude on healing duty, and spam your Chromatus form as much as possible it's not too bad. But then again I think I'm leveled a bit high for where I'm at in the game.

Storywise I was kinda surprised, was not expecting her father to be an alternate/older version of the main character. Kinda fukked up what happened to him.

Yeah, sounds like your main issue was that you were way under-leveled and/or rocking some crappy equipment. I spent a lot of time wandering around and completing jobs and character quests so I was pretty good level-wise and bought up all the best weapons/armors right before the fight.

He was tough but none of his attacks were taking out the whole team. At most he'd take out one person, but I had auto-item turned on for everybody and set them to automatically use a life bottle (of which I had 15) on anybody who gets KO'd, so anytime somebody got taken out another character would revive them right away...didn't have to worry about doing it manually. My strategy for most of the fight was basically just spamming Chromatus form and stalling for time while it's charging up.
