i read that those African nations are actually the ones fueling French's survival as a international language due to its unifying ability

African francophone countries are indeed considered the future of French as in the vast majority of french-speakers are young Africans. French will survive at the international level regardless, but the majority of french-speakers wordlwide already lives in Africa.

Yeah you and @Dip are right but it's not that different than any of the other mainstream languages like English and Spanish and Portuguese. These are all the impacts of colonialism and imperialism since with their language comes their influence.
  • The majority of native english speakers are in North America and India and the Caribbean (technically the americas)
  • Im gonna take a wild guess and say that the majority of Spanish-speakers live in North, Central, and South America.
  • The majority of Portuguese speakers are pretty much in Brazil
Again, European languages set as official languages of countries outside of europe thus fueling the future of the languages as @Dip would say:manny:

The american dollar and euro are not backed by anything.
Africa sits on the largest reserves of gold and diamonds. If africa had a centralized bank, and backed a unified currency with gold, it would crush the monopoly money that US and europe plays with.

How much do you know about Nigeria?:comeon:
Don't get me wrong breh. :whoa: IF there s one thing i get on my knees and pray for it's for the day African countries rise to the top and torpedo these European, Asian and American scums that that have exploited them through centuries. But sadly they have been plagued by corruption and also the european f@ggots undermining the few good leaders that eventually make it to a position where they can be effective.

From speaking to Nigerians i see how they feel the future holds a lot for them but at the same time they have many concerns about all the negatives too

Dumb. I'll wait on reform in the financial sector and curbing the ubiquitous corruption in Tanzania.

The problem isn't teaching Western languages, its prioritizing them. The global economy isn't going anywhere and English is an asset, like it or not.

Snap out of la la land :mjlol:
i didn't learn Spanish or Arabic in school.
I didn't learn how to speak cac vernacular English at home.

I was raised and initially instructed in aae bruh.

Now a cac wouldn't know I wasn't a cac if I wanted to present as such on the phone. An arab might think im his brother. Etc.

Cac business men sometimes speak business Chinese to communicate, etc.. Japanese men may learn English...

Your post is beyond silly and frankly disrespectful to the intelligence of the Tanzanian people. ... as if speaking their native Language is a bad thing. Its a mental thing and is good for national identity and psychology.

Here is what @Poitier does NOT understand and him being american i doubt he ever will since he's never been in thsy position

  • In these countries, children grow up and learn one language which is their native language and speak it at home
  • But then when they have to to to school, before being taught anything they must learn another language (english).
  • Then as they are learning that OTHER language (english) they must learn everything they will ever learn in school IN THAT OTHER LANGUAGE (english) that they are still struggling to learn itself
@Poitier it's like me taking your child from home and teaching him spanish at school and then teaching him match, sciences, history and all other subjects IN SPANISH while he's STILL LEARNING SPANISH. ALL they are doing is teaching them all these subjects (including English) in THEIR NATIVE language

Doggie, the way i just broke it down if you still can't appreciate and understand the positive impact of what they did there we'll just agree to disagree.

No one needs to learn German in order to do business with Germany, no one needs to learn Mandarin or Cantonese to get business in China, or needing to learn Punjabi cause you want a deal in India. Its a power game language. Why then didnt all those conquering Europeans learn the languages of the Natives they invaded?
breh...all of those countries' top businessmen (and millions more) speak ENGLISH

your idea of english as a foreign language being some imperialist tool is way off base, non-anglophone africa is easily the hardest market for the ESL industry to tap into. it's a widely considered the new frontier for those businesses, and nobody has really created a successful model yet.

I don't see anything wrong with that, but let me ask you this, do you think proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English should be a prerequisite for completing ones education?
WHERE?

Many doctors and lawyers and engineers worldwide who dont speak a lick of english, breh. And, again, English is my THIRD language. I didn't start to learn it until i turned 13 or 14. Still did just fine.

Tanzanians aren't saying they are banning english. It's just that their MATH classes will not be taught in English. Their science classes will not be taught en English. English will be taught as an elective just like I learned it, myself. As i speak to you guys on a daily basis i still do most of my THINKING in my native language before i translate it and communicate it to you. And i'll put my english reading, writing and comprehension skills up against MOST of the clones on this forum and again, it's my 3rd language.

If you want to understand what tanzanians are trying to avoid read this post. Readind it will help you understand why so many drop out in their school system before they even reach middle school

What i meant is that French's continued importance is due to Francophone Africa. You have a rising number of native French speakers and bilingual French speakers there while French is declining in other places (like Asia) Kinshasa is already the second largest French speaking city in the world
