To all non-FBAs,
Please understand that some to many FBAs didn't grow up around Africans or Caribbean Black people like other FBAs. Please factor in era, geographical location, social status, etc..
Some of us have little to no interaction with other Black people until adulthood whether it be work or college.
So, if African Booty Scratcher was used, most likely it was used against another FBA. I remember being called Ibe from Good times back in the day or this one dark skinned dude who used to dance on Soul Train with the big forehead and George Jefferson hairline(Many of you are too young to remember that dancer).
Point is..
Within the Black American culture growing up, best believe you would get roasted by your friends or other Black kids at school. I don't care how old you were, if you came around people with off branded shoes and gear, you would get roasted! If your hair cut or hair style wasn't on point, then you will get it! If your teeth or had some speech impediment or whatever, you would get it!
Either you clap back or sulk and get your feelings hurt. Some cases even bullied, if you showed any type of weakness...
That is how it was and probably still is with the kids today??
However,
I felt that Tariq overreacted with the Nigerian breh and didn't allow dude to speak. But, I also understand Tariq's feelings because he is tired of being accused of being anti-African or anti-Caribbean when he is anti c--n whether it be FBA or non-FBA and feels that Africans and Caribbean Blacks don't check their alleged "c--ns" enough.
Other than that, Black people know that it isn't that serious and nobody really trips off of people being from Africa or the Caribbean or from the States. Blacks fukk with Blacks on a personal level and group level generally, but of course nuance has to be considered with interpersonal relationships...
