To all non-FBAs,

Please understand that some to many FBAs didn't grow up around Africans or Caribbean Black people like other FBAs. Please factor in era, geographical location, social status, etc..

Some of us have little to no interaction with other Black people until adulthood whether it be work or college.

So, if African Booty Scratcher was used, most likely it was used against another FBA. I remember being called Ibe from Good times back in the day or this one dark skinned dude who used to dance on Soul Train with the big forehead and George Jefferson hairline(Many of you are too young to remember that dancer).

Point is..

Within the Black American culture growing up, best believe you would get roasted by your friends or other Black kids at school. I don't care how old you were, if you came around people with off branded shoes and gear, you would get roasted! If your hair cut or hair style wasn't on point, then you will get it! If your teeth or had some speech impediment or whatever, you would get it!

Either you clap back or sulk and get your feelings hurt. Some cases even bullied, if you showed any type of weakness...

That is how it was and probably still is with the kids today??

However,

I felt that Tariq overreacted with the Nigerian breh and didn't allow dude to speak. But, I also understand Tariq's feelings because he is tired of being accused of being anti-African or anti-Caribbean when he is anti c--n whether it be FBA or non-FBA and feels that Africans and Caribbean Blacks don't check their alleged "c--ns" enough.

Other than that, Black people know that it isn't that serious and nobody really trips off of people being from Africa or the Caribbean or from the States. Blacks fukk with Blacks on a personal level and group level generally, but of course nuance has to be considered with interpersonal relationships...

NONE...

I CAN FIND NUMEROUS ADULTS
USING THE TERM AKATA ONLINE.

All Black people have roast games and we all have boundaries. African booty scratcher was a line and you can't tell people where their boundaries are. It's not jokes to Africans. :yeshrug:

Go visit any website with a number of Nigerian posters, you'll see how they really feel.
So your experience with "Akata" is lurking on Nigerian messageboards? :dwillhuh:

So no experience at all :ohhh: I rest my case. 99.999% of you bytches bytchin have ZERO experience with this word. You're just butthurt cuz it's something to do/affirms your biases. Just to wake up and brush your teeth with the word "nikka" :hhh: Obsessed with it, daily convos just don't taste the same without seasoning it in. Can't imagine LIFE without out it, and we know everything it's meant for our people.... bbbbut "Akata" right???
full

That's the God honest truth. I didn't meet any Africans until I moved to the city middle school and despite that, "African Booty Scratcher" was part of my childhood

You sound weak. A message board is the lamest way to see how people feel.

message boards are known to be hiding place for all types of ignorant and separatist people.

Even in African American message boards you got AAs who wouldn’t say half the shyt they believe to someone’s face on the street.

I prefer to see this in real life and in reality I don’t see the term akata being thrown all over the place.

someone in this thread said that people over 30 use it. Maybe that’s the case cause all the west African friends I have are Americanized and hang with everyone.

Others don’t want to be associated with hood rats but then again hood rats have no color.

fukk outta here breh.

How people talk under the guise of anonymity is the best way to find out how they really feel about shyt.

I dont give a damn if Nigerians aren't coming up to me in the streets calling me akata, the fact is that its a regular term they use to describe African Americans. I wanna know how they feel so I have an idea of how to move when I'm around them. I dont wanna go around feeling like we brothers while they calling me a wild animal like cacs on the low.

The topic of the thread is a Nigerian attempting to explain how akata isnt derogatory. Yall over here trying to say these words aren't used when you literally have Nigerians admitting to using the term and trying to explain why we shouldn't be offended by the word.

FOH

IVE NEVER WENT TO SCHOOL WITH ANY AFRICANS.

AFRICAN BOOTY SCRATCHER WAS COMMON TERMINOLOGY AMONGST US.

HEARING AFRICANS CRY ABOUT THIS IN 2020
IS HILARIOUS.

call it what you want but don't cry when someone pushes a button you don't like. y'all feel the same way about Akata but you don't see me disputing how that can be offensive to Black Americans even though it is used towards Africans as well. Like I said it's just boundaries. Respect em on a mutual level.

Not really when in reality negative people dominate the internet. Positive minded people are too focused on other things to spend day after day on the internet preaching hate.

Hate exist everywhere and I don’t think a message board should be your source.

any stories in real life?

Usually they mean the AAs living in their areas.

So for example if a Haitian starts catching feelings then you know damn well he or she is from Florida, NJ, Brooklyn or Boston lol.

The word exist outside of the internet and is very common among Nigerians.

They'll even tell you they use it and they dont see a problem with it.

Bad comparison. Caribbean and Africans most def call out their c00ns when it comes to their culture.

So yes a black Haitian person will call out another Black Haitian person if he’s rooting for an Arab, Mullato Haitian or supporting the Dominican Republican.

Post a example of this
