The civil rights movement was good for its time but we need a new message

Making a black person untouchable is why Obama didn’t have to do anything for blacks but be a symbol :coffee:
Exactly. Blacks are just fine with empty symbolism. Pathetic.

And people wondering why blacks stay broke. SMH

People need to be careful who they consider "generals" in the community.

A general doesn't lead their army or men and women into suicide unless it's the final option, it's practically surrendering in a respectable manner.
Black folks are far from that point, so why have someone lead to to the final stand?

I know a lot of folks are hurting right now, but you got to make it happen for yourself and not rely on false leaders that will put you into a deeper, possibly irrecoverable hole in your lifetime.

John Lewis is a c00n, a democrat c00n. A lot of those 60s blacks who went into politics are fukking c00ns.

I know personally in Alabama we have the c00ns like Joe L Reed, Alvin Holmes, and John Knight, and Johnnie Ford in Tuskegee.
All c00ns, I've spoken with all these people personally before. True pieces of shyt.
They just want a seat at the white man's table.

To be fair John Lewis does use his Selma beatings for everything.

-You should support LGBT rights over black rights because I took a beating in Selma

-You should care about immigrant rights because I was beaten in Selma

-You should work with other minority groups because I was beaten in Selma.

I respect his legacy but this isn’t cool at all. At what point do you actually create a policy alternative instead of relying on what happened in the 60’s?

10 years from now we're to find out Tariq was in league with Republicans to suppress the black vote. Just like all the fake hotep types in this thread spreading the same nonsense. This right here is what I'm talking about, we need to keep a close eye on posters like this. They wrap a message of black disengagement in the guise of black empowerment.

Tariq may be abrasive but he isn't wrong. John Lewis is nothing more than a token negro that does NOTHING for African Americans. He fights harder for immigrants that African Americans all the time.

He's nothing but a civil rights good luck charm and probably an agent like most of the pastors that rolled with MLK.

He should retire an let a black person with a clear black agenda take his position. He's easily one of the weakest Congress members we have.

Russia promoted a lot of disinformation and voter apathy campaigns towards black people via social media back in 2016.

Whenever I hear of a black person on social media talking about how voting doesn't matter or not to vote, I start to think that they're in on the take

Is that what he is promoting? Not to vote?
