except it doesn't. :hhh:

Meanwhile you go see the new Spiderman remake every 5 years

Ya'll act funny still when it comes to making content. :mjpls:

Y'all come up with all these "books" and other recommendations y'all ain't even read or watched whenever someone asks you to go-in on a film project :sas1:

Meanwhile, if he didn't ask you for anything, y'all are quiet as hell on all these book lists :francis:

You all are some goddamn frauds :camby:

4 successful films deep, ya'll still questioning the brand and his ability to produce content that reverberates throughout the community :stopitslime:

This ain't the time to be picking and choosing community economics. This is literally the first step towards community empowerment, and I even have problems with some of his films in ways I've emailed him about....what have YOU done?:gucci:
How does giving Tariq money to make a film of information that already exists empower us all :gucci:

you're broke, we get it.

This is an independent project.

Do you know what that means?
I think people are asking with all of this continued success and notoriety, why can't he approach actual producers for this project? I don't think there's anything wrong with crowdfunding, but he could find producers in LA (which could help put out a higher quality product; less cheap photo inserts etc), but, of course, he would have to chop them out. :francis: I see why he goes "independent", but I see why one would question why.

He crowdfunded ONE movie. Spike has a studio that employs people; it pays itself forward.

It's a great business model for him, because he's literally not losing any money (he is obviously not going to match $200,000 in donations, why would you?). Get the same people who pay for the making of it to buy the movie later. I'm not opposed to the model or even to donating, but you have to admit it gets old. He has access to producers and Hollywood people, he just knows they'll make him break that bread up. Nobody gets a percentage this way.

All this "this is for the family" talk rings a bit hollow when he's the only one making money and the rest of the people only get 2 hours of information they'll probably never watch again. This history is important and necessary, but it could be done through other means.

Outside money = Making Compromises to advertisers and media interests.

Don't be stupid.

Now you're talking about "info they won't watch again"...you mean like 99% of every documentary you've ever seen? :stopitslime:

You self-hating c00ns are the worst. :camby:

Oh, that's it. He doesn't want to be beholden to media interests on a topic nobody was interested in in the first place. People would produce it and not give a damn just based off the amount of money they would generate. Nate Parker raised $10 million and showed a violent slave rebellion; you mean to tell me this guy couldn't raise 1/20th of that for some low budget reenactments and interviews? You know better.

Why are you even arguing? You don't even donate :mjlol:
