That's true too. They're not huge artists so they're not making thousands and thousands for a show and they're not releasing projects like currency to tour new material buuuuut they if i was in they're position and able to clock 100,000 or more a year then I'll be straight which is a possibility.
So yeah I see what you're saying
They are going to be fine with their career. You don't need that much money as an artist who has a collective that is functioning properly. The other thing you are missing big time is the incremental level of success all of these artists are getting to.
Like a stand up comedian can travel anywhere in the world & make a living, the same with a music artist who establishes a connection & a fanbase that is loyal & longterm. Doug Stanhope isn't a Louis CK but he still commands lots of venues & that's $$ that is his FOR L-I-F-E. SZA is going to be able to keep touring 10 years from now. She probably could do it for Life as well. That's so much money, you have no idea, my man. Especially if you have a good manager, you can nestegg crazy amounts.
Most of these artists aren't touring with bands, that saves BIG money as well.
Just remember, with a operation like TDE it isn't just one source of revenue stream, they have it set up in a way where the non superstars can make a good living. There are so many streams of income for music, believe me, you don't KNOW & a lot of artists won't tell you. I know, t's ridiculous how much money is on the table for artists with a brand. TDE is a extremely successful label.
The silent endorsements that aren't known to the public? It is endless what you can do now. Then you can host parties, it's crazy how much you can earn as a artist as opposed to 20 years ago. You dont even need 100K to live, there are people who dont have homes and do quite well in the artist community.
The biggest thing that no one pays attention to is the Digital side of the business, which is just amazing in so many ways if you are a "songwriter" If you are just a entertainer, nothing is yours, you are just going to be running on fumes.
There is one trick to it all that makes it all come together, a salary cap will change many a artist. They could all be millionaires in 5 years or less. Record sales are overrated quite a bit in the music industry. Short term sales you will be scrambling every single minute of the day to make it work, long term record selling, you could be on a label for +20 years if you wanted to.
